  16. KY has a history of electing Dem governors, including Andy’s dad, who won two terms. Beshear is a decent, honest guy who oozes sincerity and is honestly trying to do his best for the state and to stand up for what’s right. Partisanship is not his game. Yet, he stood his ground on key issues including abortion, and never wavered. He’s rock solid.

  22. I know Kentucky is different, in that splitting parties happens frequently, but I’m thankful the people of Kentucky recognize the good work Beshear is doing.

  26. Proud to say one of those votes was mine. We love Andy here. He’s a very rare, authentic politician. And he cares about the state and the people in it tremendously.

    Dems in southern states should be looking at Andy’s blueprint. Stay out of national politics as much as possible, be genuine, and support good policy for your state where there is support. That’s how he manages to peel off R voters who otherwise vote straight ticket.

  37. A year and a half ago, my home region (EKY) was hit by massive flooding. Andy Beshear was incredible and won the hearts of many of those people (Breathitt, Perry, Wolfe, and Floyd counties went heavy for him). They stuck red in other races and Republicans are winning big in those races.

  39. NYT probably felt like they had to publish those poll results when they did because they look pretty useless after dems win big again.

  40. Yeah, except all the other state office are going Republican, which just means people here in Kentucky still aren’t paying attention. But that’s not a great surprise, hopefully though by next years state legislature and federal elections they’ll wake up a bit and kick some of these Trumpeteer losers to the curb.

  41. Here’s the thing about Andy…he’s a genuine and wholesome guy. He wants what is best for Kentucky and makes it known. Even my friends and family that support Trump and “hate” Democrats all cite him as “the exception” and happily voted for him. He needs a national stage.

  42. That’s one. Looks like the Ohio initiative is two. Three would be Virginia, but that’s less likely. And four would be unseating fucking Tate Reeves, but that’s a legitimate long shot.

    Still, Kentucky and Ohio are strong wins.

  43. Glad I relentlessly messaged family and relatives to go out, vote and reelect Andy. He’s a treasure unique to KY and survived where all other positions and offices were clean sweeped by the Republican Party.
