A Russian battalion comprised of Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) will likely deploy to Ukraine in the near future in an apparent violation of the Geneva Convention on Prisoners of War.

This means Russia is running low on troops.
Is this a wise decision on Russia’s part. How can they trust them, or is the idea to put them on the front line and use them as cannon fodder. Either way, some of the Ukrainians will be happy to be home and desert the Russian lines as soon as they can.
Yah they’ll be really effective fighters I’m sure… WTF!?
Russia doesn’t give a fuck about conventions, rules, or values.
OK, the Russians are officially stupid if this is true. Given the choice to die shooting their own or turning around and shooting more Russians. Anyone loyal to their country put in this position would take out as much of the enemy as possible. Then there’s the possibility of actually getting through to the other side alive with some positional knowledge.
And what’s to stop them turning guns back at russia and rejoining UAF ranks?
What is the the penelty for violating the geneva convention? Nothing
They will be used to expose concealed Ukrainian position
Anyone know if this is fake news or at least misleading?
I know there have been Russian POWs given the opportunity to join Freedom for Russia and that Russia has recruited some Ukrainians from the occupied regions who have been subjected to Russian propaganda for anywhere up to 10 years but I don’t see how they could possibly make reasonable use of Ukrainian soldiers they have captured.
About the only way I can make sense of it is if they’re shoved on the front line with no weapon and allowed to run forward and surrender so Ukrainians are brought out of cover or forced to reveal their positions and stuck with the task of transferring a POW back for verification they’re not a turncoat.
