The Bloodhound Land Speed Record team is looking for a new driver

  1. I hope they find what they’re looking for, though it’s a real shame that:

    * Andy Green won’t be driving

    * The project is still in financial difficulties

    * Whatever driver they find must be financially robust… how many people possess both qualities?

    * The planned tour is *really* short notice. As in it starts in a little under 4 hours – and there hasn’t been a lot of advanced advertising. The tour is also most centred around the South East / London.

  2. I remember sponsoring a name on the tail fin of Bloodhound about 10 years ago. I hope they manage to get to the end safely after all this.

  3. Astounded that this project is still going. Thought it had been dumped a few years ago after the new buyer spent all his £.

  4. Richard Hammond is always up for driving fast cars, and he has a few quid behind him.

Cant see any problems with picking him?

*cough Rimac upside down on fire*

*cough Jet engine drag car upside down, Richards brain scrambled for a few month, but not on fire! cough*

    hmmmm, on second thought.

  5. This is still a thing? Pretty sure I remember these guys being featured on Blue Peter in the 90s or some shit.

  6. Freddie Flintoff? Believe he’s not working at the moment. Has some experience with fast cars.

  7. So this person is going to be the ultimate pay driver, someone with millions to burn just for the chance to pilot the car. It sounds like suicide.

But then Andy Green is going to vet them? He couldn’t possibly allow anyone who doesn’t have experience flying supersonic aircraft, because he knows exactly how crazy it was piloting Thrust as it went transonic, so it’s probably a few hundred people in the UK, assuming they want a British pilot (this person is definitely not a “driver”).

A former RAF pilot with fuck-you money, does that person even exist?

  8. Do not, under any circumstances let Richard Hammond anywhere remotely near this thing.
