What? He was warned that the building was going to be bombed. Better than just killed like it would have been by Hamas.
Certainly sounds like an important military target to destroy this entire neighbourhood. /s
But instead of empathy for the people that have had everything taken from them, I’m sure this comment section will be full of people either saying it shows how considerate the IDF is, or telling us that it’s all fake.
This is the BBC trying to be impartial. However, they have no experience with this concept, so they do the best they can. Which is of course garbage.
What they want Israel to do is use Jewish Space Lasers to travel through 60m of earth and zap Hamas in their tunnels without damaging anything along the way.
Just like Britain did in WWII, when they did not carpet-bomb Dresden into a firestorm. Or like they did when they fought in Iraq and and didn’t kill 100,000 civilians. Or like they did when they did not bomb a TV headquarters building in Serbia in 1999 killing civilians inside it.
IDF call ahead to issue warning and evacuation order? How are they gona genocide all the civilians now? /s
When the IRA did this, they used a different word to describe it.
Damn I cried a little during this article. Israel is going out of its way to not cause civilians death, which is commendable.
But I imagined being that dentist, getting that responsibility just throw onto your shoulders. We don’t like emoticons but this one is warranted: xs
Also the before and after pic, all those people who have nothing to do with this, all their belongings gone. Every memory destroyed.
I’m not picking sides and question if the Israel response is proportional, I wonder what my country would do after a terrorist attack that’s worse than 9/11. It’s just so fucking complex.
Hamas must go in my opinion. Iranian influence should be strongly curbed (hezbola, yemen, iraq, fucking russia). I wouldn’t be against a proportional response by the us on their drone and weapon factories.
But shit I often refrain on commenting on this conflict. I understand that both Israeli people are threatened and Palestinian people are still repressed. I understand that there are a minority extremists Israeli settlers on the West Bank that don’t help.
Fuck this is so complex. I hope for an international coalition stepping into gaza.
Idealy by arab nations, saudi arabia, jordan, egypt, uae. And with support from the west. France seems willing.
This is a clusterfuck. I feel for everyone, Israeli and Palestinian civilians that woke up after the 7/10 that had nothing to do with this shit.
Seems completely asinine to warn potential enemy combatants that you’re about to bomb them.
This is really interesting. Never had a first hand insight on what is the mechanism of these warnings and assumed it was more of a ‘one way communication’ mechanism.
It is quite incredible the amount of time that person on the other end of the phone has engaged and the ability to have a certain level of interaction.
Must be terrifying to get such a call and the associated responsibility though. I’m glad to hear that he managed to get everyone to safety.
Again, Isreal really aren’t doing a good job at this genocide thing.
People forget that if not for Israels tech, hamas would of made Israel non habitable. This whole civilians are being killed is just a page from Hamas war book.
Why do Israeli settlers keep stealing land?
IDF already killed over 10,000 people (+4,000 of which were children) so the warning are clearly pointless and nothing but a cheap face-saving sound bite happily used by US and Israeli media
Very interesting article. Can you imagine the responsibility being out on him though?
