  1. [Source](https://www.pxweb.bfs.admin.ch/pxweb/de/px-x-0103010000_101/px-x-0103010000_101/px-x-0103010000_101.px/). Data is end of year 2022 so very up to date.

Continuing with posts about demographics of immigrants to/residents in Switzerland since I found them interesting. If it is too much I can stop.

Note this considers *all kinds* of foreigners (well except tourists): long term workers, short term workers, diplomats, students, refugees, asylum seekers. Naturalized persons are (obviously) not counted as foreigners.

Someone asked whether there were more detailed data, and there is a list with people living in CH from each country.

    Fun data:

There are 340,625 Italians and 326,036 Germans in Italy.

Italy, Germany, France, Austria, and Liechtenstein immigrants make up 36% of total immigrants to Switzerland.

There is exactly one immigrant from Micronesia.

There are 729 stateless people residing in Switzerland.

6.67% of all Liechtenstein citizens live in Switzerland, highest of any country, narrowly beating out Kosovo.

89.2% of Ukrainians in Switzerland are non permanent residents, highest of any country. 100% of citizens of Laos, Barbados, Botswana, Saint Lucia, Eswatini, Monaco, San Marino, Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Timor-Leste, Nauru, Tonga, Vatican City, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Kiribati, and Micronesia living in Switzerland are permanent residents.

    Largest immigrant group by area:

    Area| Country | People
    —|—|—-
    Europe| Italy | 340,625
    Middle East| Turkey | 73,919
    Africa | Eritrea | 43,232
