  1. This is incredibly disappointing. This would have been the most radical initiative around electric utilities in the US in a long time, and could have been the domino that knocked over other IOUs.

    Seems like in general, the public power and climate movement has faltered in some of these local initiatives. There was a similar, but broader measure on the ballot in El Paso, Texas early this year, that was also overwhelmingly rejected. Both that and the Maine ballot measure will be important case studies to learn from, for future battles against IOUs.
