Assuming this is another one of those American Sweet Shop money laundering fronts but it would probably be a good start if they could sell ‘American’.

  1. I think you’re just quite pessimistic, I think the giant bald eagle on the sign just proves its authenticity. 🥱🦅

  2. I feel the real question is the quality of Coopland’s bakery? Would I feel fulfilled if I popped in for a sausage roll straight out of the oven?

  3. I think you’ll find it’s
    A Mercian Market
And it’s going to be full of 9th century Mead and stuff, and other Offa’s

  4. “Howdy partner, mind if I launder up some money in this here town”

  5. Check if they sell guns and burgers, that’s how you’ll know they’re genuine.

  6. Well, it looks cheap and nasty. Seems pretty authentic to me.

  7. Perhaps it’s a Mercian Market – ie one from the West Midlands.

  8. There’s another in the Durham area called UK MARKET with the same sign, just replace the eagle with the Union Jack.

  9. Bald eagle, american flag, poor spelling… seems pretty American to me. Only thing missing is someone standing outside it shouting “FREEDOM” at people

  10. I like how all Turkish barbers have the exact same photos in their windows.

  11. And next to a Turkish barber, another money laundering place.

  12. I hate to be pedantic but these sort of businesses are used for tax evasion and the sale of counterfeit goods rather than money laundering. They are not the same.

  13. The Turkish barbers next door needed to launder more money so they’ve taken over the shop next door

  14. Ah Ancient Amercia, home of the bald beagle and where duffaloe roam free…

  15. Americans don’t have a great grasp of the language so I’d say this is about right

  16. As an American immigrant to the UK…What in the actual fuck is that?!!! lol

  17. Definitely authentic. With US education this is the most common spelling..

  18. Is that the high street in Stanley county Durham?

  19. Looks like the business owner is an authentic product of their education system.

  20. They are not money laundering.. they are for tax avoidance.

Big developers want to buy up prominent shopfronts and hold for 10 years. The trouble is there are fees for empty properties.. so they fill it with the cheapest thing they can.. sweets!

It’s not like there’s a mafia out there laundering billions by selling sour skittles. 😂

  21. Americain, it’s like cocaine, but it tastes like **FREEDOM!**

  22. Maybe they specialize in East Midlands and East of England medieval treats and ingredients?
