  1. One day better be within 20-30 or more years. Ukraine is in no way ready to join the EU anytime soon & we definitely shouldn’t let them in just out of pity for the guy. The country is a mess, completely corrupt & letting them join wouldn’t just put all members at risk but also be an insult to all members that put so much effort to join or those that were rejected.

Let’s help Ukraine survive their war and maybe join NATO. Let’s not treat them like they’re one of us & take them into the EU.

  2. Ukraine is Russia in all but name. I doubt we see them join the EU for 3 decades minimum. They’ve got deeply ingrained corruption and flaws that will need to be totally ironed out. Realistically, you need a cultural shift so that they can gel with the rest of Europe

  3. Good luck with that after this whole election “pause”

  4. EU surely needs another corrupted to the bones money sink country in it.

  5. That’s what this was all about, after all. The Russians had their puppet shitcan efforts to integrate with Europe and the Ukrainian people chose to take matters into their own hands. Russia has sacrificed international standing, economic opportunities, and over 300,000 of their own men to keep Ukraine in its bubble of shit.

  6. If they implement regulations and improve in several factors, absolutely.

However, while I am with them on their fight against russia, the EU has to keep up standards.

  7. Guy will now be like a desperate YouTuber will do tricks to stay in a spotlight since world moved on to a new younger hotter war

  8. *One* day, yes. But only after big reforms of the EU itself and a major and sustained change in Ukraine away from oligarchs and corruption.

Let’s focus on them winning the war first. Supply them with what can be delivered safely and what helps them in their fight..

  9. If they join it, it will be another Hungary or Poland, but way poorer.

  10. There’s a joke I first heard when Russia invaded Ukraine that I still think about sometimes:

Putin died and went to hell. At one point, he gets a day off for good behavior and decides to go to his favorite bar in Moscow. He orders a drink and asks the bartender about the current political situation.

    “Is Kiev ours?”
    “Yes, we have Kiev.”
    “And Krakow?”
    “Krakow too.”

Relieved, Putin decides to settle his tab.

    “That‘l be 10 euros.”

(Sorry if that wasn’t perfect, that was the best I could remember it at 6:30 am)

  11. Ukraine tech and military sectors will be the best in Europe. Longterm thinking, this is a win. Shortsighted redditors can’t think at any scale past their five inches.

  12. We all hope this will happen, the EU is the largest and most successful peace project in human history after all.

  13. It’s good to be optimistic, lots of things need to happen before they do though.

  14. Great another poor country with nothing to offer.

  15. Country is too fkin corrupted. Dude is getting richer with war while his people dying.

  16. I doubt they will have the time, the EU is not long for this world. Within 10-20 years, it will be gone.

  17. Maybe 40 years after the war and massiv, massiv reforms.

  18. So he’s saying they’ll get their human rights laws reasonable? Happy to hear it 🙂

  19. The way things are going I’m not sure there will be a union to join whenever this war is over

  20. Should have been day one.

EU is guilty of not giving them emergency join. Maybe it could have prevented the catastrophe.
