I’m curious what counts as regularly, I think it also depends on amounts.
Shocked Russia leads the way though, If I was a betting man I would have gone for The US or Belgium.
russia is in first place because it robbed Ukrainian candy factories.
South Korea disciplined as always
Lol US 41% yeah right. Bet they were lying on this survey while riding down the Walmart aisle with a ten pound bag of twizzlers and a bucket of corn syrup on their lap
I’m surprised Sweden is not in there. Dudes are having fika every other hour.
With how Arabs have tea, it ought to count as a sweet, same for Turks. I know the Middle East didn’t get their diabetes rates from camel milk
I’m surprised that Switzerland isn’t on the list.
Going by world-wide obesity statistics, there obviously some liars amongst the Americans polled.
Can confirm, I’m munching on Sour Patch Kids typing this comment.
But the main motivation for Turks which I don’t share is tea time, I suspect this is why Ireland&UK are high as well. People consume too much tea and drinking tea alone feels kinda weird so they usually add a high-carb snack next to it. I really hate tea but somehow I have a sweet tooth as well.
Complete bollocks. I just moved back to Germany from South Korea where every sauce and every “salty” snack and every damn “bread” variety contains SUGAR. It really is awful and the only reason SK ranks at the bottom here is obviously that respondents were asked if they consume food that is oficially labeled as either a “sweet” or chocolate. I’m so happy I’m back in Germany where cakes don’t consist of nothing but cream and sugar, “bread” is a different category, and honey is kept away from Pizza. This “survey” just shows that you can almost never trust the conclusions of such stupid comparisons.
What do the man by chocolate? As that can have a wildly varying sugar content depending on if it’s white, milk or real chocolate.
Most of the food in the US contains “sweets”, no need to lie like this, lol.
Lol no way those numbers are reliable. we have Little Debbie cold cereal in the U.S.
ITT: People thinking “sweets” means sugar.
No, it means candy and chocolate. There’s a difference.
If you have good chocolates as the Belgians do, it’s only normal to have a piece from time to time.
Definitely true for the US smh
The manja cakes
What does it really means “regulary”? In my mind I can consume chocolate once a month and still say regulary.
I know this is bullshit because we should be number one
Don’t think you can ignore soda and think you have anything accomplished
IMHO India should be first. Nobody on the planet consumes sweets /mithai like us. Diabetes hip hip hooray 🙈🤣
The sweetest tooth makes the sweetest people
I bet Russia counts liquors as sweets 🙂
Sometimes, we drink milk with desert in Turkey for being able to eat more desert.
Lol at the US not being 99.99%
How is Finland not on the list? When I was there the amount of sweets on offer was ridiculous. They have entire aisles of big hypermarket filled with all types of sweets you can choose from. Basically pick N mix.
My mate is coming over from Finland next year and I’ll have him bring me some delicious mixed Finnish candy.
They are all so delicious!
America should be higher, they might not eat the most sweets and chocolate but they add plenty of sugar to their ordinary food.
Edit: Why is this downvoted? Even the bread has sugar in it.
59% of Americans are liars..
I gotta admit. I sure do eat more sweets than I’m willing to admit
I mean, sweets are a common gift to bring back from a holiday. Belgium is well known for chocolate, so I’m pretty sure a certain percentage in there is from tourists.
With the amazing sweets Turkey has, I cannot be surprised ❤️
They mustve not asked in poland. Ive never been to anybody’s place there where there werent sweets in nearly every room.
So, a new tactic for Ukraine, lure Russian soldiers out of the entrenchments with candies!
nice try america, you don’t have a sweet tooth despite there being sugar in your bread and water?? xD
Living with an Asian SO and having a large Asian circle of friends:
This is highly misleading. Our taste buds are different. Things that are extremely sweet for western people are very often not sweat at all for 1st or 2nd generation Asian immigrants.
If I caramelise beef with some honey to give it some sweet flavor or add some sugar to a sauce my SO will not notice it at all sometimes, while it’s already getting too sweet for me.
I also remember a study that Caucasian people are more than twice as likely to get Diabetes than Asian people, which might play into perceived sweetness.
I can tell you that I never before and never after ate as many sweats as I did during my masters when I got “adopted” by a groups of Asian girls after switching universities. They had large amounts of candy they ate and shared literally every day. (I felt so guilty for always eating their sweets, that I learned baking myself to contribute, much too the enjoyment of my SO these days)
The score would have been at least 90% for India. We consume sugar in our tea, accompanied usually by sweet snacks. None of our weddings or functions are ever complete without copious amounts of sweets.
As an American this seems accurate in terms of the percentage of people who “say” they consume sweets regularly. But the reality is that sugar is in everything in the US and I think a lot of Americans just don’t realize it
In your face America. Yet another thing Britain beats you in
