  1. So, voting shouldn’t be a thing? Or, as he calls it, “direct democracy,” these people get scarier by the day

  2. He actually said the quiet part out loud. Wow.

  3. >direct democracy should not exist.

Sounds like the people need to start protecting direct democracy in the states. States might allow for voter initiatives in their constitutions, but the legislatures add many additional laws around how they’re conducted. Wouldn’t surprise me to see state legislatures try to make it more difficult for voters to get initiatives onto the ballot.

  4. Of course. A Christian theocracy shouldn’t be troubled by elections.

  5. Completely on cue.

And given how such miscreants readily conflate nationalism with patriotism, nobody better mention *jingoism* to them, lest their heads explode.

    On second thought, do that.

    Straightaway…

  6. Then you should be removed from office, as you are not following your states constitution.

  7. >North Dakota State Rep. Brandon Prichard is an unabashed Christian nationalist who wants to see, among other things, his fellow state legislators “put into code that Jesus Christ is King and dedicate their state to Him.”

O…kie dokie. I’d say any state official that says something like that should be ignored.

  8. The do not believe in democracy. These people are a danger to your rights and the constitution

  9. It’s getting mighty French over here in the states.

  10. Christian Nationalists? A fascist is more to the point.

  11. Anyone in Ohio who voted for the Protection for Abortion Amendment in your state and happen to live in this guy’s district should make sure to vote someone else when he runs for reelection.

  12. >In the wake of the election, Prichard posted a tweet urging the government in Ohio to simply “ignore the results of the election” because “direct democracy should not exist.”

    >In this case, “direct democracy,” as Prichard snidely termed it, simply means “voting.”

    >Citizens of Ohio went to the polls in a legitimate election and, by a wide majority, voted to amend the state constitution to protect reproductive rights. That is how elections work. But because this result conflicts with Prichard’s far-right political agenda, he is openly calling for the will of the people to be ignored so that his own Christian nationalist worldview can be imposed on the voters.

    A) He’s a North Dakota State rep commenting on an Ohio election, so…I’m trying to come up with a witty way to ask who gives a shit, but that feels like too much brain power to spend on thus asshat

    B) We don’t have direct democracy and a majority vote that changes a state constitution is still not a direct democracy.

What people like him mean when they say that is “we hate how many people get to vote and have their voices heard and we really just need it to be white, affluent, cis-gender Christian males.

    C) Still, while his individual comments are as consequential as a fart in the wind, they are reflective of what many conservative politicians seem to think: fewer people should have the franchise, rule should come from a minority, and if we don’t like how you vote we’ll think of ways to get around that.

  13. “Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they’re sure trying to do so, it’s going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can’t and won’t compromise. I know, I’ve tried to deal with them…

We are finally at this point for the GOP

  14. When these people show us who they are, we need to believe them.

Yesterdays elections were encouraging, but we’re going to need to keep winning at local and national levels to prevent Republicans from hijacking democracy.

  15. For the Christian nationalists, democracy is a disaster as they depend on only the wealthy having a say.

  16. 1) All gods are imaginary

    2) All theocracies are inherently illegitimate

    3) All people are morally and ethically permitted to resist theocratical dictates by any means available

  17. Treasonous Republican Nazis are waging open war on democracy and the United States itself. They keep telling us who they are and what they are going to do – believe them. Disqualify them, deny them and defy them – defend democracy like your life depends on it.

  18. I do believe that would be a violation of the Insurrection Act.

  19. I have socks that have governed longer than this kid…

  20. “If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.”—David Frum

  21. >The portrayal of his academic background has been repeatedly called into question. He has claimed that he “studied law” at the University of Minnesota, but the law school stated he “is not enrolled in the JD program at the University of Minnesota Law School.”[4] Prichard claimed to be a law student during one of his last speeches in the North Dakota Legislative Assembly.[5]

Another con artist grifter in the GOP

  22. Oh cool, we’re only doing states rights when it suits us huh?

  23. Keep saying the quiet part out loud. Maybe say it louder too. People need to know what you all stand for.

  24. Why should such people be allowed to participate in democracy when they don’t even respect the result?

  25. Can we ignore the election results that gave him his position?

  26. These people vote against making the democratic process easier for everyone.

Because they don’t want everyone to vote. They can’t win when everyone shows up.

  27. Keep saying the quiet parts out loud. You identify yourselves for us, Christofascist.

  28. They’re not even trying to hide it anymore. They’re giving up on the system wholesale and encouraging the seizing of power. Let the light shine on them like the cockroaches they are.

  29. Brandon Prichard seems like an absolute psychopath fascist;

    >North Dakota State Rep. Brandon Prichard went on a Christian nationalist posting spree on social media last week, declaring, among other things, that every member of Congress must “submit to the Gospel of Jesus Christ” and that “every conservative state should put into code that Jesus Christ is King and dedicate their state to Him.”

  30. Why do all republicans just look like douches? Is it genetics? Are they really that inbred?

  31. These people are the poorest losers ever. It’s been nonstop since at least 2016. Stop. Lose gracefully and sit down. Damn
