Soldier on Tower of London patrol filmed stepping on child

  1. I’m glad that soldier stepped on that child. God forbid the Tower of London be made less secure by… a soldier stepping to the right for a second…

  2. Meanwhile in authoritarian communist dictatorships, guards of the people and not the unelected rich german benefits scrounger on the throne manage to move just fine. But I suppose it’s tradition that must be strictly adhered to for… reasons… when we do it?

    CCP shill in 3, 2, 1…

Please enlightened democracy lovers of the west, discuss and enlighten me with your views rather than downvote, you have alleged freedom of speech as long as you’re not issued court injunctions, gag orders, or in breach of one of the home secretary’s many new laws

    Edit: Anglo seethe

  3. I dont think its a major security risk to walk around a child.

Whether the act was right or wrong now they have a pr nightmare to deal with which will cause far more of a headache than sidestepping a child would have.

They are afterall ceremonial rather than actual security.

Edit – People praising a guy taking out a child is a strange look reddit. Y’all need to cheer up.

  4. Tourists love that shit, it’s what those guys do. All part of the theatre.

Don’t let your child walk in front of men famous for pushing tourists out of the way/standing on them/pointing guns at them if it’s going to make you angry when they do.

I’m not saying I think it’s necessary, by the way. I think its an appalling waste of money for the sake of a very stupid tradition but this isn’t the first time a tourist has been knocked down by these soldiers and it won’t be the last, it’s like a theme park attraction with an element of real danger about it.

  5. Man they aren’t exactly quiet shouting make way for the queen’s guard multiple times.
Hope he didn’t scuff his shoes take a while to shine them buggers back up.

Make it socially acceptable to keep children on a lead !

  6. Pretty clear the kid jumped into the path on purpose. He learnt a valuable lesson that day…. THAT THE QUEEN WILL FOOKIN END YOU BLUD.

  7. Parent should keep tighter control of their little brat. When the guard shouts make way. You make way. You don’t let Lil Jimmy go skipping in front of them.

  8. Oh yeah, [I saw this crossposted on r/casualuk](https://old.reddit.com/r/CasualUK/comments/rr08j5/make_way/). Two other kids managed to get out of the way with plenty of time to spare, meanwhile the kid that got stepped over seemingly came out of nowhere.

I had to rewatch several times, because I could not figure out where that kid came from. One minute I see the guards, the next there’s this random kid lying on the ground.

Finally spotted them at the 4 second mark; they’re facing the oncoming guards, get startled by the guard shouting, and then get bowled over.

  9. Child wouldn’t have been kicked / stamped on / stepped over in the first place if he wasn’t there, lesson learned for child and parents.

  10. Looks like the kid deliberately stepped (almost jumped) into the soldier’s path (for a laugh or dare I guess) and the soldier stepped over them. He doesn’t “step on the child” as per the headline at all

  11. There’s literally a Reddit sub dedicated to guards in London and another place (Stockholm I think) walking through tourists.

I can’t remember what it is but I was looking at it yesterday

  12. Life lessons learnt, for both parents and child hopefully.

I’ve seen the video and to me it looks like the kid was deliberately fucking around. No one knows a child better than the parents and if your kid is prone to fucking around like that then you keep an eye on them.

I do wonder however if the parents are the sort that let their kids get away with anything. I could be a total fuckwit when I was young but I’d never have done something like that.

  13. The outrage in here is quite something. Imagine they repurposed that outrage into something actually important, like road safety? Imagine the amount of kids we could save from oncoming traffic every year, instead of oncoming soldiers virtually never.

  14. Imagine wittingly stepping on a child because you’re so serious about fulfilling your “*We dOn’T ReAcT To AnyTHinG!!1″* tourist gimmick.

So yes, he’s an arsehole for not breaking his LARPing for a moment and stepping round an irritating kid rather than, you know, literally walking over someone. And yes there are probably some bad parents behind this story too who need to control their kid better but that goes without saying.

  15. Do any of you guys posting about “gimmicks” and “ceremonial” etc realise that these guys are actually serving military personnel? At that given moment the guardsman was posted in London, but the guards regiments also serve on the front lines in war zones all around the world. These are real soldiers, not like the Beefeaters who are purely ceremonial.

Now, I have no love for the military, however we have Help For Heroes, Invictus Games etc which seem extremely popular and worship of the military seems to be fairly widespread.

If you guys are all anti-war and hate the military then carry on. If, however, you have had a conniption fit over taking the knee or some other slight against “our glorious troops”, or if you were wearing a poppy a couple of months ago then check yourselves.
