On one hand, they have the right to defend themselves in their own territories, as in militia group (at the risk of getting shot).
On the other hand, they would be considered “unlawful combatants” and won’t enjoy the same privilege given to combatants (seems like fiction in this war though).

Motherfucker picked up a gun and handed it over to a combatant, who is wearing civilian clothing and surrounded by other civilians. Shot them and everybody cries about dead civilians eventhough dead was spitting bullets a few minutes ago.
