I would dare to say the fact that they are correct (or at least more correct than the left side) in this matter is what makes them increasingly relevant in Europe politics.
Admitting that an awful person made a good point, and you were wrong about something, is a terrible feeling. Many people would rather deny the reality than do that. This is just the same situation, except with political movements.

Left never wanted debate on this matter. Everyone who wanted it was immediately branded racist, whateverphobic and faschist/nazi.
And by whom? By leftist politics who usually live far from problems created by mass migration, in their safe districts, guarded workplaces, never using public transport, with their children learning in private schools.
I hope the wave will wash away state-level lunatics and especially EU-level lunatics, who play with entire continent.
Because the center/center left refused to change. It shouldn’t have been such a difficult battle at this point honestly.

Honestly? This is no shock. An open borders approach does not work politically in the world that we live in. It stokes tensions within communities, many of which may not be with the native population I should add, and can result in rapid change that can be very fearful.
Not everywhere can be a melting pot where like-minded people mix happily. That doesn’t mean the locals are a massive bunch of racists or that government has failed. Sometimes, some communities struggle with change or are not compatible with one another.
And if you think that this is rich countries “paying the price for colonialism.” Yes, maybe they are, but what does you saying that achieve other than proving you are right? Well done, you were right, but we have a serious issue that needs tackling here.
It would be nice for a left wing, progressive politician to say “you know, we have to treat people humanely and with compassion, and do what we can to make people’s lives better, but that does not mean everyone should be invited here.”
It’s impossible to solve a problem if you deny the problem even exists. If leftists refuse to even acknowledge that flooding countries with people with whom they have absolutely nothing in common (neither religiously, nor linguistically, nor culturally, nor ethnically) is a bad idea then of course they will never offer any solutions.
They have created it themselves. A problem that’s totally self created and it would only take an idiot not to see that it will lead to regret and resistance followed by emergence of far right.
It was so much easier to just have the old fashioned border and visa control, which was already in place. It honestly almost looks fabricated, but I’m afraid it wasn’t and it was just sheer stupidity of our politicians.

I can only speak for Switzerland, but imo here a large part of the relevancy of the right-wing party is that they are the ONLY party that even discusses the issue. The left puts their head in the sand and the center keeps going on about “muah labour shortage”
Are there any far right Euro parties that are at least neutral on LGBT rights? It seems the gays are getting squeezed from both ends.
The left has been maddeningly incompetent on this issue. Just say nothing but platitudes and do absolutely nothing until they totally lose the popular debate and then they basically have to turn into immigration hard-liners themselves, like in some of the Nordic countries.
At this point I am fairly convinced that the Left simply cannot have an immigration debate, because it will immediately disintegrate into infighting and calling eachother racist/nazi etc.
Meanwhile the Right has enjoyed the Left refusing to take any sort of meaningful position on immigration. The Right didn’t have to do anything, just say: “Migrants Bad” and the Left is so busy falling over itself to call the Right-wingers fascists that they lose sight of the massive group of voters in the middle who are just looking for any sort of solution. And only the Right is even entertaining the idea of one. It might not be a solution that works, but when the Left refuses to even talk about it I can imagine most people at least give the Right a shot.
