This is because of some EU regulation, they kinda forced them to do that. You now have a choice if you want to pay and see no adds, or not pay and see ads.
Facebook is becoming kinda ancient for most people, imagine asking for paying subscription when people already check it like once a week
No, because I uninstalled them. €12.99 a month to not have my data collected and sold to third parties… pffff
