This one warms the heart. That war was over quickly, but it was not without devastation. It’s a really nice story all round, that the people who unwittingly bought the medals chose to immediately remove the listing and begin the process of returning them on the veterans say-so. I just wish they caught the spineless cunt who stole them.
People like this guy are why I still buy poppies. The Falklands was probably the last war Britain entered that I wholeheartedly approved of. Actual heroes. Some of the most incredulous war stories came out of that conflict. For anyone who’s not that knowledgeable on how the war played out, I suggest watching one of the many YouTube deep dives into it. The story of how a handful of commandos crippled an entire key airfield is particularly impressive. Real heroes, real men.
It annoys me when people suggest we should hand the Falklands back over, because the generation of men who fought to keep them for the benefit of the people who live there are largely still around. Imagine going through the shit they did and then living to see the islands handed back to Argentina. Falklands forever.
