Anyone who thought that the Tories would stay true to their promise of replacing this EU funding is delusional and probably believes everything they read on the side of a bus. Why would they ever give money to the vulnerable or needy when they could just give it to their mates instead?
I’m shocked. Flabbergasted even. The Tories lied? They never do that! /S
We’re getting £16bn/year back from the EU, there’s absolutely no excuse for not replacing the £6bn of that which was previously allocated at the very least. This is a government promise that needs to be kept.
Not replaced? Cornwalls annual £100M funding from the EU waas replaced with £1M funding.
I though there were shortages of workers…
We have enough lorry drivers now???
Must have been written on the other side of the bus.
Replacements will be slow in coming and will not be anywhere near what people received before. One of the many problems with Brexit is that rushing it meant that no plans were drawn up regarding what would happen once we had actually left, plans they have still not thought through. While they were happy to use industries like fishing to score points, they do not actually care enough to fund them now that they no longer need them.
Why should we automatically replace this funding? It’s a good opportunity to re-evaluate if it’s really needed, or if the money could be better spent elsewhere.
Who knew that the hate for the Eastern Euros could be this expensive.
Cornwall, which voted leave and has routinely returned 100% conservative MPs, doesn’t actually want what it has voted for. But it wants everyone else to suffer. But it should be exempt.
If you’re young, get out of Cornwall.
Levelling up = £2.6b over three years. Obviously the whole levelling up thing is complete cobblers but who would have guessed the sums involved were so paltry – barely worth the effort. Wouldn’t even pay for 1/10th of a test and trace service.
With the way this government wastes money on boondoggles it is pretty unlikely to have the money to spend.
Thanet voted massively in favour of Leave.
Margate Seafront was basically rebuilt with EU Regeneration Grants.
