  1. Seems comments in this thread are restricted… Can see several were made however they are not visible due to the below.

    >We use this flairing to limit participation to accounts which have accrued a notable age and karma level. The number of “+” in the flair indicates just how much karma and how old the account needs to be. We don’t disclose these numbers, and it’s liable to change. Additionally, users will require a verified email address, and crowd-control may be set to its maximum setting, collapsing comments from users with negative karma in the subreddit itself, and/or who do not subscribe. If your comments don’t show, then it is because Automod has removed them as your account does not meet the criteria, or for standard reasons (keywords, etc).

  2. And this is why we need measures like the new trespass-with-vehicles criminal offence so groups like this can be dealt with, rather than allowing them to ruin the environment and safety of others’ home towns.

  3. It’s such a difficult issue. The travellers themselves would like to be free to roam yet nobody wants them setting up near them because of the local issues they create. I wonder if there are any examples of a peaceful coexistence in this country and what setup that looks like? I don’t see myself as xenophobic at all, indeed I try to be the opposite but wherever travellers set up in my experience near here, all the hallmarks of a nearby traveller community occur. Increased fly tipping, vandalism and destruction of the site they’ve taken over, and general anti social behaviour. I’ve heard a hypothesis that local scrotes start doing more burglaries etc when travellers are in town because they know they’ll take the heat for it. I’m glad I’m not responsible for sorting any of it out that’s for sure.

  4. They wonder why no one wants to live near them… It’s a serious problem with one real solution, separate them all from each other and reeducate them to live in our society. Social Work, Health Work, Education, it’s expensive…

However the state likes to keep use fearful and make us think the police are necessary so that will never happen; This isn’t a problem they want to fix.

  5. > Local homeowners say they have been verbally abused, had things thrown at their cars and have even seen incidents of fighting. There have also been reports of cars “racing” up and down the roads, while others have had vehicles “dumped” in front of their homes. Angry neighbours say loud chainsaws and late night bonfires have further kept them up at night. Worcester News visited the site and noticed large amounts of rubbish had been strewn across the estate.

I’ve never understood how the British tolerate this nonsense. People living in caravans and trashing the joint shouldn’t be a protected characteristic.
