  1. In my opinion it’s just vandalism. I understand that people support Palestine, but damn – at least show some respect.

  2. Just shows that certain people have no respect at all and only care about themselves.

Would be bad on any day, never mind on Armistice day.

    Vile behaviour.

  3. Calling for stopping war and death on Armistice day is appropriate and morally righteous

  4. Not surprising, some of these people have no respect whatsoever to the history and culture of Europe. They just want to re-establish the same culture they ran away from, but this time in Europe.

  5. They manage to dissacrate everything, what a bunch of useless human beings.

  6. Might be because of the Balfour Declaration which was signed during WW1

  7. Gee, the people rewriting and falsifying history in the Middle East (destroying archeological artifacts on the temple mount, claiming the Arabs accepted the Jews fleeing Europe before and during the Holocaust, the famous “shrinking Palestine map”, and so much more) are disrespecting the history of Europe. Shocking…

  8. These people seem to have a great deal of respect for the sacred objects of other social groups and it’s just so wholesome to see ☺️

  9. I am inclined to say Europe is lost, but I don’t really think it is. People will rise against this eventually, and it won’t be pretty.

  10. I wonder how soon Europe is going to wake up to the fact that their policies are controlled by savages that they have given shelter to

  11. i bet they are regretting breaking their promises and giving the land to the jews instead

  12. During thé WW1 tribute in Belgium i saw Ukrainian and Palestina flags like wtf …

  13. I doubt this is the (main) impetus for this protest but lets not pretend Arabs can’t make some very valid complaints in regards to British (and French) WW1 policy which could be foundation for a more nuanced remembrance of the end WW1, one which might be slightly uncomfortable.

The Sykes-Pycot Agreement is infamous for a reason.

  14. my god, the clutching of pearls in this thread is insane… *how could they desecrate a war memorial… WITH A FLAG?!?!*.

Bunch of babies. I wouldn’t be offended if it was an Israeli flag, why are you so apoplectic it’s a Palestinian one?

  15. Arab/muslims enduring themselves to the world. There will come a backlash against the support for terrorism as a means of drawing attention to a problem/perceived problem. Mass deportation will come in the near future.

  16. A holiday remembering the end of war, being used to be against war!? Preposterous!

Pretty sure there were Ukrainian flags at last year’s armistice day at many places, it’s not hard to understand.

  17. As an Israeli, Europe needs to wake up before it’s too late. with those people you must speak “Middle east language” – they understand only power.

  18. Hahaha r/Europe in shambles over a flag tied around the waste of an inanimate object

While far-right coked-up racist thugs fight police at the cenotaph chanting “Britain til I die” and “you’re not British anymore” at the police.

The issue here is definitely the “terrorist sympathizers” “running amok” and proving “Europe is lost”.

Not the violent thugs getting lit and battering the emergency services?

Not the Home Secretary that got fired for starting it?

Not the blatant misinformation you guys post in this joke of a sub every day?

Nope, flag on the waist – that’s the real issue this country is facing.

You guys are an international embarrassment to the rest of us.

  19. Absolute rubbish. If you come to our countries, adapt. That’s what humans do. And if you try to push *your* oppressive culture upon *our* oppressive culture in *our* country, then I think you’re not very bright.

And sure, this is polarization and I expect nothing from Reddit, but who gives a damn?

  20. I feel disgusted watching this picture.

    We need to wake up!

  21. Good for them.

I don’t get the perspective of “disrespect” voiced here, its not like they tore down the memorial, defecated on the statues or graffitied over the plaque. By the looks of this photo the protestors just wound a skirt around the fella’s waist and have gathered around the statue to raise awareness of a seriously deadly conflict.

On a regular day in any student city across the world, statues like these have traffic cones placed on their heads, shoes strung around their necks or mustaches drawn onto them by the local student population. Hell, on any given football match old towns and city centers across Europe are free game for European hooligans anywhere. Does this mean the downfall of Europe too? Heck, don’t you think people in ancient times desecrated their local monuments for sh*ts and giggles too?

But nope, a bunch of brown people get together for a cause they strongly believe in and suddenly there’s cries of “the downfall of Europe” and “despicable subhuman beings” by conservative pearl-clutchers like there’s no tomorrow.

Get it together, fact of the matter is that this time tomorrow that WWI monument will be as empty, ignored and forgotten as any other day of the year. Say what you will, but at least these people are drawing attention to its existence again.

  22. Such disrespect.

They all need to be repatriated. We don’t need these types of people.

  23. Is there a Holocaust memorial day?
I wonder if they dare to do the same on that day.

  24. Putting aside the disrespect to the the memorial and its heritage.

In many countries as per flag etiquette wearing a flag below waste is considered disrespectful. So they’re disrespecting Palestine too.

  25. Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

The Palestinians continue to do themselves zero favors and will never get what they want.

  26. From the river to the west watch out Europe, you’re next

  27. Seems like the perfect day to remind people of the clusterfuck that is going on

The day to remember the wars in the hope it never happens again, please be quite we don’t want to hear about the genocide you’re suffering, we’re busy hoping it never happens again

  28. I can sympathise with the Palestinian people but this is beyond offensive. Fucking bullshit. Awful PR for the Palestinian cause. Idiots. Vandals.

  29. What’s the difference between this and projecting other nations’ flags on monuments and buildings to show solidarity? Which happens all the time.

If you’re more upset about someone hanging a foreign flag on a statue to promote the call for a ceasefire on ARMASTICE Day, than you are about the actual genocide taking place, then you’re on the wrong side of what that statue represents.
