England could fit Covid air filters to all classrooms for half cost of royal yacht | Schools

  1. The UK could build a hospital a year for the cost of the royal family. Don’t take the propoganda headline figure, include travel, security, maintenance, etc. This would triple of even quadruple the headline figures

  2. ‘’’’C O U L D’’’’

Here’s a leaked list of all educational bodies benefiting from such a landmark enhancement:

    Eton

  3. I’m sure currently some school chum of Boris is hastily setting up a filtration company. It used to be a jewellers, but a few tweaks to the website and hey presto, “AirULike Filtration Technologies (Jersey) Limited” is alive.

Also, I know the report said £140M, but our government wouldn’t pay less than £4.5B.

  4. But…but where is the prestige in making our schools a safer environment for staff and pupils?

  5. The government could fit a window that is wider than 2 feet and opens more than 6 inches to my high school science lab for a couple of hundred quid, but they won’t.

  6. Air filters? I don’t know about you guys, but the vast majority of schools I’ve been to don’t even have a place to fit an air filter… They’re just solid classrooms with windows.

So I’m a little confused by this.

  7. I’ve got a friend who’s been doing maintenance on commercial air filters… Full of mould, no one knows how to properly look after them, they just let it run until it stops working. Just leave the window open.

  8. There is also the [Biological Threat Detection System offered by Teesside based company Kromek. ](https://www.kromek.com/biological-threat-detection-system/)

The system can detect the presence in the air of a whole host of viruses, included Covid-19, and alert those at risk of exposure to the presence of infection and the need to get tested. The system could not only be enormously useful in this pandemic, it could additional be a vital tool in combating future outbreaks of currently unknown pathogens.

  9. Yes but why should they spend your tax money on your children,. You are the plebs after all.

Better to spaff it on a yacht that only Etonians can get the benefit of.

  10. Its time to get real.. why the hell do we need a Royal Yacht and why if so should the taxpayer meet the bill.. in an age of limited resources we need to put kids and their health ahead of wasting money on the already wealthy.

  11. Am I right in thinking that the royal yacht is a Boris boondoggle rather than something Liz has actively pursued?

  12. Children don’t care about COVID. You can turn a school into a COVID fortress with all kids wearing FFP3 respirators but unless you stop them from socialising together outside of school, the entire school is going to get infected regardless of whatever interventions exist within the school premises. There is no way to break the chain of transmission between children. Better to buy the yacht, it’s more watertight than this idea.

  13. The article does not equate ‘projection of power’. That’s pretty high in the list of this government, and although royal family won’t admit it publicly, for the royals as well. The royal family can lift an eyebrow to halt this project if they truly desired it.

  14. If you think this government is going to do anything solely for the benefit of the people than you are jaded and confused.

We’re all fucked under these bastards.

  15. I feel like the government are going to ignore so many sensible mitigations that cause minimal if any disruption such as this to the point where we end up being forced into lockdown again

  16. Problem is even if they did this, the usual suspects would be suppliers and we’d not get any value for money and likely dodgy equipment.

We really have fallen that low.
