  1. TL;DR:

Before immersing yourself in the overemployed forums, it helps to know some of the lingo.

Those who consider themselves OE rank each of their jobs by the priority they place on it.

The first rule of OE is you do not talk about OE.

  2. I don’t hate it. If any of these companies were paying him enough, he wouldn’t have even considered doing the other 2 🤷‍♂️

  3. These examples are such a threat to WFH that I have no issue reporting anyone suspected of being over-employed. It isn’t loyalty to my employer that drives it, it is loyalty to my family and way of life.

  4. How does one fill out his resume?

Also, why would companies care if he meets all of his metrics?

  5. Good for these folks.

If companies are fearful of this, shame on them. They should be looking at their management. If a manager doesn’t recognize a job requires 5 hours a week that they’ve assigned an FTE to, the manager is the one who should fear for their job.
One way or another, competent managers pay a certain price for a certain amount of production, so long as the employee is providing the production they’re doing the job.

One theme I read in the article is that the OE worry less about job security. I wonder why employees worry about that? Again, shame on the companies for creating that environment that makes OE desirable.

Some executives can do it, but some employees shouldn’t? Bullshit.

  6. Goes to show how little meaningful work happens at most companies.

  7. Who says you have to tell your boss if you have another job.

  8. Tech jobs are not demanding enough if you can carry 3 of them at once.

  9. It means her costs are too high at meta-IBM and Twitter which provides an opportunity for competition to develop. Capitalism is beautiful that way.

  10. Businesses use things like holiday parties and meetings and small talk to stop autistic people from using chatGPT to do 20 jobs each.
