As a left leaning guy, they can keep saying how great the economy is, but prices have increased so much on everything I don’t see it. Just being honest.
We Americans have become so polarized that facts mean little in the shadow of partisan hackery and tribalism. Biden could have created 20 million jobs and have zero percent unemployment, and Republicans would still complain.
Idk “amazing” seems a but hyperbolic
Because if you’re an everyday citizen, it isn’t amazing…
When people can’t afford things, they tend to doubt the idea that the economy is awesome
MBA grads can’t even find an entry level job in this economy
GDP isn’t reality for people
I’m ignoring replies from people telling me how great things are or how much worse it could be. No worries for everyone else because Axios says 70% of you are fine so don’t worry about it.
There is nothing “amazing” about an economy where the majority of its participants are one paycheck away from financial ruin, where a home-owning middle class is a shell of what is used to be, and while less than a fraction of a percent have more wealth than they could spend in multiple lifetimes.
That being said, anyone who claims our economy was more optimal under Trump isn’t worth taking seriously.
Ballin’ GDP growth doesn’t mean as much to people feeling the squeeze because their wages haven’t kept pace with inflation. And unfortunately that’s a lot of people right now.
I’m a working class American. It’s not better for me or anyone I know. Too much wealth has been handed to the already rich in the past decade.
because when people say “the economy” they aren’t ever talking about the same thing. Some people mean “how much I get paid”, some mean unemployment levels, some mean interest rates, some mean the stock market, some mean inflation, some mean housing availability.
It is a catch-all term that is not used consistently from audience to audience.
Amazing for who? Honest, hardworking people can’t afford basic essentials and I’m tired of seeing articles about how well our economy is. Percentages and polls mean nothing when there never seems to be focused litigation on issues that are ever-growing and not going away. Watch, some political buff will respond to my comment about how “it’s not Joe’s fault.” Or “one party can’t change things on their own”. It’s sad when I see people defend these politicians. Their check keeps rolling in whether they truly are doing their jobs well or not. Are there really any politicians or congressmen who care? The doubt from the working class is higher than ever before. Hard to call America the greatest country when the cost to “play the game” in this country is depriving people of their quality of life.
I voted for Biden and will again but prices for everything are through the roof. Maybe don’t keep saying the economy is doing great. Working folks are really struggling to make ends meet. It might not be his fault but there is a massive disconnect between their messaging and peoples experience at the grocery store.
Because nobody cares about the GDP. Groceries are expensive, houses are unaffordable, and wages are still low.
As long as food, fuel, and housing prices are high especially when coupled with low wages, the economy is just some mythical construct the news talks about. That’s it. That’s all. It doesn’t matter to the average person how fat Wall Street is if they cannot feed and shelter themselves.
Affordability is at an all time high. This economy sucks for everyone except the rich.
Personally i am doing better than ever. I understand prices have increased, but my wages have increased. I can afford more than ever before. However, I know damn well this isn’t the case for everyone.
The standards by which the economy is labeled great is the type that only conservatives like to brag about. The stock market.
It is meaningless to the Americans who don’t give a shit about the stock market because they don’t have enough money to invest in anything outside of immediate needs. And those costs are going up.
This is frankly not a winning message. When your response to people getting priced out of food and home is to tell them “the economy is doing amazing” you’re basically calling them failures at worst, liars at best. Tout the individual achievements all day long, but just a blanket message of “The economy is booming under Biden!” won’t get the job done.
Amazing for WHO? That is the question, the reflection, that never seems to make it into these peoples brains. Life for the average American is hell right now. I’ve never made more money in my life (spoiler: it’s still not a lot) and I’m paycheck to paycheck, no savings, behind on bills, etc
It’s only good for the rich and the DNC bots who comment on this same type of article every week.
At this point, I feel like the ‘metrics’ for what constitutes a good economy, is pretty out of touch. Economy is amazing for whom? It’s not for the ever shrinking middle class. It’s certainly not for those considered poor.
Our country was made great, when it had a growing middle class, not a shrinking one. So to me, it’s all just PR bullshit.
He’s not getting credit because the Infotainment Technicians need the Presidential race to be a horse race. They love Trump because he makes them tons of money with every inane thing he does. He’s a walking talking train wreck, but they NEED the race to be “close” even if it isn’t. So how do they accomplish this? They tear down Biden, and treat Trump with kid gloves. Their business model isn’t about truth, facts, protecting the Republic, or any other such concepts… it’s all about the money. Just the money.
Because I can barely afford rent and groceries.
Democrat here. But please forgive my language.
Who the fuck is economy actually benefiting? Because I know it is not me or most of my friends. We’re collectively struggling to make ends meet. Any one of us can’t go to work because we’re sick we’ll be absolutely and royalty fucked. Yes I know Republicans, the GOP, and the MAGA cult voted against our common interests. I want Biden to straight up tell them to go fuck themselves and use the media to expose how the Republicans are not for the everyday person but for the billionaires. We need the Democrats and the left to play dirty.
I see some variation of this headline weekly and yet I can *barely* afford rent and groceries…
Ratings-mad Cable news along with foreign and corporate influenced social media?
Oh, and the brainwashed people indoctrinated by the same, repeating lies, and making up new lies themselves. Then they share these lies at the coffeeshop, hardware store, and everywhere else.
Well I spend 2/3 of my paycheck on rent, I’ll never afford a house, it cost more then ever just to travel to and from an empty office I have to return to, grocery prices have exploded, and every time I turn on the TV there is some CEO talking about record profits last quarter and someone writing pieces like this…
There is a big discrepancy between how people feel about “the economy” vs. their own personal finances.
Businesses are doing great but the majority of people have seen a decrease in a quality of life. On paper everything is going well, in reality things are getting a little worse each year. Being technically middle class is not as good as it used to be. Money isn’t trickling down
Typical bad Dem marketing.
This is propaganda. The economy is trash.
IDGAF about the Economy. I care about the cost of my own life. Groceries, housing, fuel. All of this is higher and straining my budget.
Because it still fucking sucks for most of us.
Because a ton of normal people are struggling. Middle class and working class families both (if we even have a true middle class).
Biden’s team really needs to read the room on this one. The constant social media posts and articles about how great the economy is doing are tone-deaf at best. The majority of people who made the most difference in ensuring Biden won and went to the white house (particularly young voters and black voters) probably do not feel like the economy is doing too great.
The economy **is** good. But for whom lol?
Yeah it’s a fucking amazing economy if you bought your house before 2020 lol. I bought mine in 2016, paid off my cars in 2018, so yeah it’s good for me. But it’s absolute garbage for everyone that’s renting or needing to buy a new home. Saying this is a great economy is wildly out of touch. Fortunate people should really try harder to understand what life is like for everyone else.
Cause we can’t afford groceries AND rent?????
Well I’m living paycheck to paycheck and working 60 hours a week. Yeah amazing.
Gas went down but idk about anything else 🙁
The poor middle class of America does not think it is pretty amazing.
In my opinion it’s lack of a way to educate the public on the progress Bidens administration has made. Understandably the public has been upset about the state of the economy and inflation but seem to be lacking awareness of the cause and where we’d be if Biden wasn’t doing what he has been to clean up the mess and damage wrought by the previous administration.
People quickly forgot that the economic downturn began with Trump’s mishandling of the initial threat of COVID and then mismanaging the handling of it once it started spreading. That causes us to quarantine, and businesses suffered as well as the supply chain.
Once Biden won the election and Trump’s coup was a failure, it was no coincidence that his good buddy Putin decided it was time to invade Ukraine. This was a tactic to further hurt the US economy as oil and gas prices rose and the world economy took a hit. As many people in our country are not educated or not aware of current events in the world or even the country, and Biden is president, Putin knew Biden would be blamed for this, and Trump on cue spouted how it never would have happened had he been in office.
It is frustrating to realize that many people have no clue how our government works in regard to passing bills and think that Biden is to blame for not passing more of what he was supposed to. I typically have to explain that there is the house and Senate before the president can sign or veto a potential bill. When you have a Republican majority in one of those chambers who’s sole mission is to block any bill that would be helpful to even their own constituents, then you can get little done.
I believe that the Democrats need to be constantly airing commercials that tell of the accomplishments that the current administration has done as well as reminding the public that we are in this mess due to the previous administration. Then ask the simple question, do you want to hand over power to the people who put us in the miserable predicament we are slowly getting out of or do you want to keep pushing toward a better tomorrow?
We need a democratic version of fox news. But one that actually spreads news and the truth. It can be done.
Amazing for who?
Who is it amazing *for* though? Not the average American family. The cost of fuel, food, the cost of housing, it’s all through the roof these days. I don’t think Biden is really responsible for any of that, and I plan to vote for him again because the alternative *will* be worse. That having been said, plenty of people who are less capable of critical thought will blame these problems on Biden and hold it against him. He has a problem.
Because I’m the most poor I’ve ever been as an adult and there is no sign of that changing?
Reddit: PRESIDENT DOES NOT CONTROL THE ECONOMY
LOL! We are told inflation is all over the globe and not just in America. Then you get on Reddit and see a post that says “this is $200.00 worth of groceries in such and such place” and it’s 4 times as much food as we can buy in America for the same price. Corporate greed needs to be handled.
People need to start calling the struggle most Americans feel currently what it is. Corporate greed. Corporations have jacked the price of everyday items. They saw an opportunity to raise prices and now are pocketing the money. This has led to inflation becoming so much worse than what Covid caused. The government has failed us because congress is too dysfunctional to regulate corporations to curb corporate profits and consequently curb inflation. The fed is trying to curb inflation by raising interest rates but that is really the wrong tool for the job. Let’s stop blaming the president. All he can really do is sign what’s put on his desk. Congress has failed to put anything good on his desk to address the problem.
If a Republican had the numbers Biden does, the media would be talking about how things are booming. It’s all because inflation which – in my unlearned opinion – is due to rampant greed at this point. Okay, sure. When things were shut down and the supply chain was broken, I get it. Prices would go up. But now? They know they can charge outrageous prices for everything and get away with it.
I’m a lifelong Texan who finally stopped self-identifying as a Democrat when Ann Richards failed to win reelection, feeling Democrats were unwilling to fight. When I was born, Eisenhower was president.
That said, I’m just about convinced Biden is the best president of my lifetime. Do I wish he was younger? You bet. Do I agree with every thing he’s done or failed to do, every position etc.? Not hardly. No, my assessment is relative to the times, the circumstance he took on and the extraordinary things he’s accomplished. I’m only barely above the littlest of the little guy and I know a little guy Champion when I see one, not to mention a deft politician. Those Democrats failing to rally around Biden — and failing to fight — only serve to remind me why I stopped self-identifying as a Democrat. In my lifetime no president has deserved — earned — reelection more than Joe Biden.
