The audience their targeting was never really that interested in super hero movies. It’s so common knowledge that they used to make fun of nerds who where, it’s a routine joke in movies and tv shows. And I feel they are doing it in the wrong way. Meanwhile Asian movies/ tv shows picking up the pace and showing how it’s done. For example give a 15 year old anime girl a big ass sword and no one doubts she’s able to kick ass without making it a big deal or trying to push a political message it just is and everyone accepts and loves it..
Maybe because none of this crap matters anymore. The country is collapsing around our ankles as we bend over and take another for team “billionaire”.
I liked the movie
Why is anyone surprised that a film largely headed by a character with another poorly performing film would do poorly? Captain Marvel bombed.
It wasn’t as bad as Quantumania, but I think it would have been much better as a Kamala Khan solo vehicle. Maybe if instead of doing that disney plus series it should have been a movie. Ms Marvel could headline a billion dollar movie if the script was solid.
i wonder if studios not paying actors their due had something to do with
And yet still the highest opening for a black female director ever.
They push this movie forward to try to avoid the strike. I kinda believe this movie was a big reason why the strike ended. This movie needed promotion from the actors. One of the biggest thing for the One Piece Live action is that they did so many different videos with the cast before the strike happen. From actors meeting Oda to just randomly hanging out on set. Which was good promotion for the show. Marvels had nothing but the movie itself. Which kinda didn’t have much but being a summer fun movie. If they promoted this movie like setting up who is Ms Marvel and Captain Trouble more with the ads. Seeing The actress meeting everyone. They might still be bad but be better then no promotion.
I’m sure it’s a serviceable MCU movie but it takes more than that to excite me enough to go to the theater today. Especially since there’s just so much great content that I can watch at home. I just finished Our Flag Means Death season 2, Gen V season 1 and am watching season 2 of Invincible. And then there’s all the other movies that have released on streaming that I need to go through.
Let Captain Marvel just get absorbed by Rogue from the X-Men and end her misery in this Universe.
This is only the beginning. I’ve been saying MCU sucks for years and they need to make better scripts. Ive also said that expanding is not the way to go given that their projects have poor rewatch value. People only watched the films for hype. Look at the spiderman reunion, that’s why it was successful. Avengers 2019 was all hype, remember that actual film? Dead until the final hour. We went for the event, no film will match that hype. I said all this but I got laughed at.
This was a good movie. Enjoyed the tone shift from everything being super serious, had some Thor ragnorock vibes.

But keep beating crap out of that dead horse.
