“It’s all a charade”: Jack Smith busts Trump trying to “hoodwink” judge in new filing

  1. So basically Trump told the Special Counsel that they were agnostic about televising the trial. Based on this representation, the Special Counsel filed a motion opposing televising. Trump’s counsel then immediately reversed course and filed a motion arguing that the trial should be televised. Now the Special Counsel wants an opportunity to reply.

Will be interesting to see how Smith handles this. Bless him for trying to do his job while the other side continues to try to turn this into a political circus.

  2. this has been his m.o. all his life in the lawsuits he started and faced (over 2000 I read)

just flood the court with bs filings to prolong the cases and let the bills of his opponents inflate to a point they give up, or settle for less.

this won’t work against the government though and he still hasn’t figured out a government shutdown won’t affect the funding for these trials.

he’s just stalling and praying for a miracle

  3. Here’s another example the donald hiring “only the best people.” What a loser.

  4. What percentage of trump supporters watched the Ukraine impeachment, the Jan 6th impeachment, the jan 6th hearings? In their entirety, not the fox news cliff notes with commentary?

Theres not a chance in hell any of them would risk their perceptions by taking in the entire proceedings. They are forbidden to be presented with facts. Their entire existence depends on being permanently caged inside their media bubbles

  5. If he was innocent, he would demand a speedy trial to clear his name. But I don’t expect conservatives to understand basic critical thinking.

  6. The best solution would be to have cameras and full audio recording in there, but not release it until the verdict/sentencing is over. Full transparency, without the circus. We can go off the stenographer and reporters until it’s over.

  7. Obviously the goal was to not say one way or the other, so that no matter which direction it went, he could complain about it and call it an injustice. Oh boo hoo they won’t let me televise it because they don’t want the american people to see the TRUTH! Had they decided to televise it, he’d still complain. Oh boo hoo they want to televise this political witch hunt to smear me!

  8. The more desperate trump gets, the bigger the bullshit he will try.

  9. I want it televised, but on the other hand half the country is as dumb as a rock and will fall for Trump’s bullshit. They see a different reality than most sane people.

  10. This camera thing is a charade.

There’s no way conservatives want their people to watch unfiltered court proceedings. They need the Fox Notes version where they can focus in on one thing and twist it to be more important than it is.

But they also don’t believe the Feds want the cameras either so they can pretend they want the cameras and make the feds out to be the bad guys for not allowing them.

They’re trying to be like McConnell when he sponsored a bill he didn’t think Obama would sign so he wanted to make Obama out to be the bad guy. Only in McConnell’s case Obama said he would sign it so McConnell had to filibuster his own bill.

  11. I don’t think any trial should be televised as it is happening. If at all, then air the footage after the verdict has been reached. Really it just makes it more difficult to sequester the jury and keep the bench impartial, and in this particular case makes it a lot easier to intimidate jurors and members of the court. I’m all for transparency in the legal system, but a trial should remain as isolated as possible until it has concluded. Of course, all of this isn’t even considering the age of soundbite politics we’re living in: the trump camp would take something he said out of context and wave it around like it’s proof he’s innocent and just further martyrize their god-king. Jack Smith deserves so much praise for handling a defendant who fully believes he is above the law and unfortunately has many higher level government officials supporting him.

  12. Here’s a big reason why I have no problem with it being televised. Trump is likely going to speak very little, if at all, at the trial. His supporters won’t see him making big grandiose statements every day in the courtroom. They’ll see him sitting there, weak and unable to stop what’s happening. And the evidence will be laid out for everyone to see. As long as the judge is able to maintain control I think a televised trial is good for the country.

  13. Can we get Jack Smith to overlook that new Supreme Court ethical code of conduct?

  14. Can we stop saying trump did this or filed that? He didn’t do anything. I know headlines have limited space and dropping lawyer/s allows for more info. Trump has no legal strategy. He is not directing his lawyers to hoodwink a judge in a new filing. He is hiring(and probably not paying) the bottom of the barrel legal council. If he has an end game it is to win 24 and pardon himself. Plan b, count on the supreme court overturning a conviction. He is a bumbling Grandpa with no clue how the legal system works. (In Alex Baldwin trump voice) “So unfair, that the greatest president, is so hated by the vermin democrats.” Or some such bs. Trump has many nefarious plans and is seeking to be an authoritarian ruler. He is not trying to outsmart a judge. His incompetent legal team is.
