Been up there many times…*The Graves of the Leinstermen* on the slopes of the Arra Mountains overlooking Lough Derg in Tipperary is well worth a visit, there’s a great walking trail as well.
Never knew they called famine walls living in tipp 17 years shame on me
Also check out the famine museum is strokestown.. displays letters from poor old souls whom had to board the Coffin ships.. some made the slog while others perished..
The wall looks really impressive from the top. Must have been some feat to build it
Where on the Galtees is this? I’ve been up a good few times and honestly completely missed this several times. I must read more about this
You can never be too careful about stopping Limerick people coming over the border.
*”Can’t have poor people getting food for nothing or where would we be”*
…said every idle rich brat who never worked a real job in their life but lived off their parent’s wealth. Most likely accumulated from the physical abuse of others.
I’ve climbed that, don’t know how they did it half starved with rocks each day.
Is that snow? May move there so.
Yeah.. didnt mean to bring the mood down but gotta be seen. Its an emotional experience..
Starving “but if you build this wall”……..
BTW “did you know” the “soup pots” were at the top of hills. Let your imagine figure out why!
