  1. Should’ve used the photo of him making the pog face

  2. Just in case, Marshal is just the Speaker of the House, just doesn’t sound as ridiculous as some audio equipment.

  3. Moderate centrist, essentially a Christian Democrat. He is still socially conservative on some issues, but at least leans heavily into the Democdatic Coalition’s worldview, for example he wants to seperate church from the state, us pro-EU and is willing to compromise over the abortion issue.

I personally would have preferred a more radical and left-leaning candidate, but considering the fact that conservatives still make up a sizable part of Polish population, he is essential in making the Coalition work by being a way better alternative to PiS

  4. I think He will fit well for this role. After 8 years of deep polarization, he is the type of person to be able to return to a normal way of doing things. Here is my reasoning:

    1. He is a moderate catholic –> He does not hide his religion and neither does he boast about it (Tusk vs Braun). I know that this is a negative thing for the majority of this subreddit due to the left-leaning approach but in a country where the crushing majority believes in God (does not mean practicing) he is a middle ground. Shows PIS voters who take religion seriously that he is not “detached” and also shows the same for those who don’t see religion in the best way.
    2. He is ideologically centrist –> Whilist his statements count be seen as conservative in countries like the UK, Netherlands, and France, he is in Poland centrist and openly talks about dialogue and communication. Something that PIS took away from everyone.
    3. He was never in politics –> Though not the youngest, he is still fresh to politics and his getting that position instantly can be seen by some as risky (say that someone with 8+ years experience should go for it) but others also say that it is the reset that some people would like to see and nobody had time to “corrupt” him. (Personally, I don’t like the idea of someone aged 70 with 24 years in politics taking the most important positions while young people are our of Sejm (We have just one politician from “gen Z” and as far as I know, about 100 from “gen Y” where there are 460 seats.
