  1. Fuck off Stephen. Not all of us got to snort all the cocaine in the world for fun like you.

  2. I agree with King. I don’t care for superhero movies either. Good for King to say what he said.

  3. Two words, blue beetle, people literally called it a failure, “blue iron man but boring” and headlines kept track of how poorly it track on the box office, but apparently it isn’t “unpleasant” because the lead wasn’t a woman

  4. Wow the ai that writes Stephen king’s novels is really branching out with hard hitting commentary

Or maybe the movie is dog crap. The lead has the personality of a wooden post and is even less likable irl than most of kings villains….

  5. He’s talking about young boys that think girls are “yuck” or have cooties. Maybe those kids are embarrassed to tell their parents they’d like to see the movie.

I don’t know if King is wrong, but I do worry that if The Marvels film completely fails then everyone will point to the wrong reasons instead of addressing the real issues with the film.

People can just decide they’re not interested in seeing a movie. There’s no reason to blame white men, incels, toxic masculinity, kids or whatever. That’s just an easy way out.

The marvel movies are full of strong female characters, especially now.

Outside of Marvel you could compare ‘The Marvels’ to the Opening Weekend success of Barbie. You would have to assume that a Barbie film would have the same full list of troublesome naysayers and holdouts and virgins, but it set records.

  6. I just think it’s weird that a movie that makes $47 million in *one weekend* is a “box office disaster”.

Maybe expectations (and budgets) are just way too high.

  7. It’s gloating because their comic book love isn’t being made. It’s also diversity in characters which comic purists may not be used to. Every movie can’t be Captain America.

  8. It’s because we want movies with good well written stories , like Oppenheimer. We’re tired of spending a 100 bucks to take the family to the movies on its 10th sequel.

  9. Literally man child butt heart entitlement who want to voice their snarky/edgy opinion.

  10. You mean that the Marvel franchise has an incel-like problem? Colour me shocked.

  11. Wonder Woman 1 still remains the benchmark for superhero females

  12. If customers vote with their wallets, then the ones voting no should be allowed to be at least satisfied that maybe this will affect change on the MCU. Since endgame, it’s been really bad.

  13. Apparently everyone in the world chooses movies based on what adolescent fanboys say.

  14. I disagree with King, level of product is well below average and the studios should know the audience isn’t going to put up with it

  15. When people gloat over Blue Beetle failing: I sleep.
When people gloat over Quantumania failing: I sleep.
When people gloat over Shazam Fury of the Gods failing: I sleep.
When people gloat over The Flash failing: I sleep.
When people gloat over Black Adam failing: I sleep.
When people gloat over Morbius failing: I sleep.
When people gloat over The Marvels failing: Red alert, red alert. All soldiers to the battlestations. We have a verified incident of a White Woman In Distress. Ready your ~~Virgin~~ Incel Grenades, load up on -ist, -ism and -phobic ammo.

  16. I went and watched it. It was fun. I got my $12.50 worth of entertainment, went and had some Beer cheese soup and some fresh baked pretzel bread and a nice Porter. I considered the night a success.

  17. I didn’t see much in marketing or hype. I’m sure. The strike had something to do with all that.

If you want to see toxic just look at all the comments under the NFLMemes meme on Megan Rapinoe …

  18. How is it that a post with 300 upvotes and 40 comments about a writers opinion on a movie I s in the News section of Reddit?
