Why do these kind of articles often specify how many children the person has?
This was not someone who had two drinks earlier in the day and was “technically” over the limit without realising it. This was someone who got absolutely hammered and stoned and chose to drive. She didn’t clip the cyclist on a narrow bend but slammed into him on a wide and straight road. She drove off with his severed foot still stuck in her windshield. She then lied about it when questioned, when anybody with a shred of humanity would have turned themselves in due to feeling so guilty about it.
All I can say is she better get a lengthy sentence; well over 10 years at least. However, this being Ireland and her being, not only a woman, but also a “mother”, I’d be very afraid she will get a very light sentence with a lot of it suspended followed by early release for “good behaviour”.
Good to see the Garda writing a victim impact statement that doesn’t pull any punches and doesn’t fall for his attacker’s woe-is-me bullshit. People should take notes.
I see a 200 year suspended sentence in her future.
