Pep Guardiola’s press conference before leaving Barca. After winning everything and having the best team of all time, the pressure still broke him and he stopped coaching for a year after. The pressure at Barca is immense and can break any coach. The same pressure drove Luis Enrique out.
I understand people have high expectations and want to see Barca playing at the highest level but the harsh criticism from the people who are supporting the club the most is disappointing. We are supposed to be the people defending the team against all outsiders. Gooners rally for Arteta, Coys for Ange and even united fans for Ten Hag. But Barca fans act like they hate their coaches/players. You can have high standards and still recognise progress and effort. Barca fans have the shortest memory of all. Before Xavi we had not won the league since 2018/19 season. We had a change of president, lost the GOAT, financial handicap, PR explosion and expectations were for Barca to go into ruin or become the “next Milan” for years. However, we won 2 trophies which includes the biggest trophy in Spain.
Sometimes I wish the fans get what they want so they can learn the hard way. Bring in Arteta/De Zerbi or whatever other popular name, Ten Hag used to be a name people called too, and see how they will implode. They have done worse with less pressure and more income. Let’s if they can survive the calls for your head after losing your first game all season. Winning 1-0 at a tough away game to a team that has not lost at home in 15+ games and people still say it’s not good enough while Madrid gets praised for being resilient and showing up for only 15 mins in every game.
Everything wears down with time except oil money I guess
Barto and Rossell did so many bad things but the most damaging thing to our club was letting pep go. It’s a crying shame that he has spent more years at city than here.
