An acquaintance of mine recently crashed into someone on the highway at night. The person he had crashed into was standing still with his car, with the lights turned off and drunkenly sleeping…. Person was also aggressive with police and ambulance personnel and now still his lawyer is disputing everything about it in court….

14 years ago I was a victim in a car crash, caused by a drunk driver. I was in hospital for almost 4 months, had a lot if different surgeries and had to learn how to walk again amongst other things. Now on some days I can barely get out of bed because of pain at my hip. Bc of all these thinkgs I also had to give up on a lot of hobbies (sports).
However, I was lucky! Our driver is paralyzed from the waist down, and the passenger behind de driver didn’t make it. The passenger behind me had bruises and a broken collar bone and ribs.
The drunk driver in the other car had some scratches and maybe a bruise or two, but left the hospital the same day. His passenger had a punctured lung and broken ribs.
He got his license suspended for 10 years, 6 months later he had another accident. License got suspended for a longer period, and he got a huge fine. He lives in an apartment from the OCMW, I don’t think he ever had a job. I’m still waiting for ‘reimbursement’ (is this the correct term?) he needs to pay me and the other victims from his crash.
I still see him driving around while his license is suspended.
Imho, driving drunk is attempted murder. I don’t care if you want to drive drunk, crash and die, but don’t take others down with you. There are still way too many people thinking they’re still sober enough to drive a 1500 kg machine at 100km an hour, what could go wrong?

I am sorry for the off topic comment, but I just moved to Belgium and went to Carrefour. They had these Jupiter beers and I almost bought them. Are they bad? Trashy?

Yesterday I caught an old fat guy drinking and littering cans on the brussel’s tram… just like this, dropping outside at a station the emptied one.
I tought “Hmmm… Paris is digusting, Brussel also, but in its own way…”
