  1. This is a wonderful idea that every nation should do if they can. (This post should be on ‘Uplifting News.’)

  2. Doing my part. Planted 43 trees this year. Oaks, apples, maple, birch, chestnut, walnut, peaches.

  3. do you think climate extremists will ever decide to turn people into hamburgers as a climate solution?

  4. This event is clearly well intentioned, but going by the number of trees planted is a poor metric of its impact. I could buy an acre of land and plant 50000 tree seedlings on it and have them survive. However, natural competition between trees will reduce their numbers to about 100 -200 per acre by the time the forest reaches maturity (peak biomass). There is a finite amount of carbon that can be stored in trees per acre. The better metric is how many **acres** (or hectares if that’s your thing) can be planted with trees and left to grow without human interference like logging, animal grazing etc. That’s if you want to maximize carbon storage and watershed value. There are ways you can manage some harvesting in a forest (even aged vs uneven aged methods) that are sustainable, but the avg stored carbon per acre will drop. Source: Bachelors in Forestry.

  5. It was so nice hearing them on the radio yesterday. Talking about how they want to make their country better and they’re proud of their land and making it beneficial

  6. Is there any laws saying I can’t plant trees in my neighbors yard, who keeps cutting down healthy trees?
