  1. Originally uploaded here on May 8, this is the extended footage of the event, including a description from the source. This video (or footage from different angles) gained wide popularity in the first days after the battle, but here our pilot additionally conducted a brief analysis of the battle (who shot at whom).

    Chronology:
    – The enemy tank boldly drove to the forefront and, while escaping from there, exploded on our anti-tank mine.

    – RPGs (or disposable launchers – I can’t say for sure) are fired from our trench at the enemy tank, but miss.

    – The crew flees.

    – Our tank, which also boldly approached the forefront (tanks usually engage from several kilometers away, often from concealed positions), fires several times at the disabled enemy tank.

    – The ammunition in the enemy tank detonates spectacularly, but from three different directions, enemy ATGMs are fired at our tank, fortunately, all miss.

  2. Really spectacular footage! Someone used all of their luck to get out of their alive. Really ballsy move from the UA tank, just not sure how necessary was the risk.
The second, shaped charge looked like it hit a tree and detonate early?

  3. Wild footage! Makes me wonder what the success rate is for each the high-profile ATGMs being used in this war, in particular the wire-guided ones.

The answer to that might inform my opinion on whether or not these cats knew they were targeted by so many AT weapons. By that, I mean: watching this on its own, I might conclude that these guys are lucky and probably had no idea they were being lit up like a Christmas tree. However, if it turns out that every tank within 1500-2000m of the front is always getting shot at like this, then this would just be another day in the life of a tanker in this war.

  4. That was insane. Them turning around definitely confused the ATGM crews. Close calls!

  5. I wonder if the ukr tank swapped to a kinetic penetrator for the last shot, seemed like less of an explosion on impact before the cook off, where heat rounds still can be pretty dramatic. I wonder then if any of the dust kicked up off the ground would be from a couple of sabot pieces falling away
