Hello everybody! I’m a tourist from Kazakhstan who was visiting Germany starting from October 31 to November 13. I made some shopping here in Germany and wanted to take my taxes back. So I asked the police officers at Frankfurt airport where can I take my Tax Free? And they replied to me to go to one German bank (I forgot the name) and at the bank lady told me to go to the Zoll office (which was after passport control and near to Duty Free). So I went there and asked a guy who was working there if I could take my taxes back? He asked for my receipts and passport. After giving that items to him, I mentioned that the stuff that I bought is already in luggage which I sent to the check-in. So he told me that I should pay fine for that for 40 euros. I asked him why? And he replied to me that I lied to the German Customs and that I bought stuff for my German pals/friends/relatives and wanted to scam German Customs to take back taxes. I told him that it’s not true and if possible to take my luggage back and check I can show him the items. But he replied to me that it’s not possible. I asked for at least for a warning, but he replied me that it’s a warning with a 40 euro ticket. I said that it’s a big money in my country and I should work like for 3 days for that for what he replied me: “You have the money to come to Europe, so that should be nothing for you to pay”. After a few unlucky chances to ask him for at least cut the fine, I paid it with my debit card. That was almost my last money and I got only 20 euros after that ( I bought 2 bottles of water for 8 euros and 1 magnet for 7 euros). Could anyone tell me please if this fine is legal? (Cause I think it’s not). Thank you in advance.
