[Humza Yousaf on X/twitter] The SNP will force a vote on the ceasefire. This is a plea for every MP to do the right thing and vote with their conscience.

  1. Since the October 7th attack, over 1200 Isreali civillians have died and over 11,000 Gazan civillians have died.

[more than 18,600 Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank have been killed in conflicts with Israel since 2008. That compares with at least 1,500 killed in Israel over the same period.](https://www.cnbc.com/2023/11/12/israel-hamas-war-data-shows-human-cost-of-conflict-through-the-years.html)

Both anti-semitism and Islamphobia is on the rise, and in the middle of all of this innocent people – on both sides, but primarily on the Palestinian side – are being slaughtered.

Gaza is violently occupied by Isreal, and the only reason Hamas gained power is because of the 7-decade-long ethnic cleansing campaign Isreal has conducted

I personally will never forget or forgive those who vote against a ceasefire. The brutality, violence and trauma that civillians are going through is unconscionable.

  2. It’s the Ukraine no-fly zone all over again i.e. sounds nice in principle, but those enthusiastically clamouring for it don’t understand what it _actually_ entails.

In Ukraine, it would mean constant air patrols and shooting down. It would also mean foreign forces becoming involved in what was originally a contained, bi-lateral conflict. It’s not a case of Putin going “oh alright then fair enough” and grounding his planes.

In Gaza, only the Israelis would observe this properly. In the meantime, Hamas would just regroup, rearm, take more hostages, dig more tunnels, all the rest of it. There _was_ a ceasefire in place – it ended on October 7th.

  3. We did not vote for a ceasefire with Isis.

Hamas are the same brand of islamist.

Difficult to see what Israel gains from a ceasefire.

Difficult to believe Hamas will respect it- they never have before.

  4. Ceasefires are temporary measures. They are never an end of a conflict. Does the SNP believe there will be permanent peace of Israel stops its operation? If not, what do they suggest Israel does to prevent future terror attacks on its territory ?

  5. Israel/Palestine authorities: “lads, the SNP have voted for a ceasefire, that means we must comply”

    Fucking pointless political posturing

  6. If it’s pro Israeli bots that keep infesting this sub, that can be understood in a shitty world kinda way. But if some of these replies are real, and some are watching children being murdered by the thousands and thinking there is a good reason for it and it needs to continue, then I hope the soulless black hearted cunts dicks fall off.

  7. “We are going to have a vote on something we have no power to change because it will score some political points against the opposition.”

Using people being bombed as a political tool.

    Welcome to modern politics everyone.

  8. Does he really think Israel is going to give two fucks what some opposition parties in an country on another continent have to say ?

“Sir, I know we just had a thousand of our citizens slaughtered in their homes and at a concert, but some folk in the UK would like us to have a ceasefire with the guys who live-streamed public executions.”

I mean really, it’s nothing more than grandstanding at this point. Israel has seen red after October 7 and I doubt any level of international pressure will convince them to stop until Hamas is wiped out.

And on top of that, what kind of “ceasefire” are we talking about? Hamas has publicly pledged to repeat the events of October 7th. Why would and why should Israel agree to any ceasefire with that?

  9. Wish he’d concentrate more on improving our schools and health to be honest.

  10. He is bringing his own religion into it & its completely absurd! Not only is it nothing to do with the UK, its more importantly nothing to do with Scotland!

Can’t believe Scotland has to deal with this nobber.

  11. Sure brings out the cunts when anything about this “conflict” is posted. I honestly despise so many of the human race.

  12. Starmer proves he has values and will stick to them no matter the political pressure. A really brave man. Never again.

  13. The world can breathe a sigh of relief the SNP are going to vote for a ceasefire 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 if only they thought of that sooner all would have been saved

  14. If Israel want a genocide then surely a ceasefire is in their best interest?

Maybe I’m missing something but it seems pretty obvious to me that a ceasefire would give Israel a chance to evacuate gaza. Once evacuated they can then pretty much do what they want under the guise of “we evacuated all the civilians. If you are still here then tough shit”

  15. I’d vote for Hamas to release the 240 hostages they took and to bring back to life the 1400 Israelis they murdered.

Until they do, keep searching the tunnels for the hostages.

  16. Absolutely ridiculous, what the hell would a vote do? Yes it’s a horrible situation but he should be dealing with the issues in THIS country first.

  17. Some amount a cunts in these replies man

A politician trying to do what he can to stop innocent people getting killed can really bring out the pricks

  18. SNP focused more on another culture war than real problems at home that it could actually tackle.
