Well it wouldn’t have happened if the Tories didn’t embolden the far right into doing this.
Draconian. Do the far-right realise that St. George’s mother was from Palestine? I suspect not.
I feel like this was pretty obviously the plan from the beginning.
Banning protests because otherwise the government will get a violent counter-protest going is so fucked, and you know it will be worded vaguely enough to ban any protest the government doesn’t like.
I guess if you can’t get the police to intimidate people for you then just whip round Spoons and get some thick nutters to do it instead.
Is that for government emboldened fascists (Bonzo’s version of the proud boys), or just for peaceful demonstrators?
I suspect the latter..
I agree that we should tighten protest laws on every day when there is too much violence.
If and only if we loosen protest laws on every peaceful day.
That way we can find a balance.
If we just clutch our pearls and shout “won’t somebody please think of the children!” and end up on a tightening ratchet then we’ll just chip away our civil liberties for nothing.
Then there is the 1936 Battle of Cable Street and the Daily Mail ‘sponsored’ Mosley’s British Union of Fascists.
Surprise surprise. This was their plan from the get go. It really is time for a general strike and protest, get these unelected unskilled greedy piss stains out before it’s too late.
Won’t stop people blaming XR and JSO in a month’s time, despite a lot of protest law changes being consulted upon years before XR even printed a t-shirt.
The government aren’t doing this because of the far-right – they’re doing it because they don’t like dissent of any sort. It shows them up for what they are. And they don’t need an excuse to make the changes.
And there it is. This was clearly their strategy since the fascist former Home Secretary first started labeling the protests as genocide supporting hate marches, they’ve been manufacturing consent for even more restrictive anti-protest laws for weeks.
I don’t really think people who are attacking the police gaf what the law is.
The Right: *can’t behave themselves*
UK Politicians: “We must punish the Left”
It’s absolutely crazy how much they’ve cracked down on the right to protest and strike in the last few years.
The current Conservatives are so far from the party that after WW2 helped establish the ECHR.
So Fascists turn up to attack peaceful protesters and he goes after the protesters? Cruella Braverman may have gone but Sunak is just more of the same. She was merely saying the quiet part loud.
Could see this coming from a mile off, once they leave the echr we are fucked.
Use the China playbook and define anti Britishness and terrorism to simply be things that criticise the state and they’re golden. Maybe even not even bother having an election so they stay in indefinitely? Nothing would surprise me now.
Wasn’t it the far right that invited the violence. Agent provocateur!
Given violently assaulting the police, and planning to violently assault the police, is already a criminal offence and over 100 people who are suspected of violently assaulting police are working through the courts, what exactly is he proposing to make unlawful?
The despicable actions at the Cenotaph were already unlawful at common law and under the 1986 Public Order Act, there is zero purpose to further banning legislation.
How about that. Sunak and team will continue down the path that Braverman was on.
Its almost like the only reason she was sacked is she was too stupid to not say these things out loud
Looking to the future, for when they decide not to hold an election….
Well it wouldn’t have happened if the pro-terror protesters hadn’t insisted on protesting on Armistice Day, demonstrating their full contempt for the country it was held in.
Not a single British flag to be seen, consequently, illustrating this contempt. But why should they care about that country they chose to move to, or its traditions, or the feelings of those that live here?
Which makes you wonder if the Government instigated the violence so they could make tougher laws? Oh wait a minute. They did.
What a pathetic, weak and desperate twat.
Constantly ramping up fake culture war bullshit, while eroding our civil liberties and rights and doing precisely fuck all to help the cast majority of people in this country.
No one voted for him, so it’s understandable he gives no fucks.
Still though. A pathetic PM in a government made up of far right loons, brexiteer bandits, up to their necks in corruption.
Other than they’re doing a grand job!
Too bad he will continue to ignore major issues like inflation, housing crisis, poverty, trade with EU and impact for SMEs
So this sub totally overlooks the Hamas supporters that were present that day?
You know the people favouring those that beheaded pregnant women, cut the baby out and beheaded the baby?
But nope, this left wing sub needs to condemn the white racists only. Should rename this to leftiesforthecaliphate
The right to protest doesn’t give anyone the right to spread hate for the most evil on this planet.
I really do wonder what you lot would say in the event of your loved ones being slaughtered due to the worship of a man in the sky.
Causus Belli.
To create a totalitarian state and prevent dissent, have a solution in mind, then create the problem to get the reaction you want, then implement the final solution..
There is little to no ideological difference between Sunak and Braverman.
The far right had swastika’s and a former terrorist leader…oh wait…nvm
