>32-year-old Zachary Shrewsbury is a native West Virginian; He grew up in Jackson and Monroe Counties, and he now lives in Fayette County. He then served five years in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he says he developed the leadership skills needed for public office.

>His campaign website says he is both pro-fossil fuel and green energy. And he says he’s more in touch with average people compared to Republican Senate Candidates Governor Jim Justice and five-term Congressman Alex Mooney.
I setup a recurring donation for the next 2 months to Shrewsbury’s campaign.
I don’t want the GOP candidate to go unchallenged. It’s a longshot. Shrewbury’s campaign needs to survive until election day.
Wish him all the luck. Nothing I like better than a politician that knows they’re probably going to lose and still willing to do the work.
Good on him!
Good luck to hi.
I don’t expect he’ll win but in terms of his platform and resume he seems to be an ideal match for the electorate.
That would flip the seat !
A Republican will *sadly* win that seat, as will they in Texas and Florida: just burning money lighting it on fire in West Virginia as well, next year, this triad will not break its hard Red partisanship for a President polling here when they voted Red in 2020 when Biden was at 51% approval:
No, Dobbs factually doesn’t matter to these states vs the border/racism issues, these are Red states- not Purple states. We saw this play out in 2022, period.
Sherrod Brown has a better shot at re-election in Ohio, only because he’s a long-term incumbent: he’d even be in trouble if he wasn’t.
(Jury’s out on Tester, Montana is Redder than Ohio though…)
Good luck, lol. The UMPA would have a better chance in West Virginia, because at least they’re generally right wing.
This guy does sound good, though, even if it’s all but certain he’ll loose.
Watch Manchin’s WV state political machine work against him.
Looks like another fetterman type…5 years marine is a good look, I think west Virginia is a prime state for a DINO (affectionate) if we can keep WV competitive we keep money out of purple states
Sadly, im just extremely skeptical of any promise of flipping southern states. Ive counted on beto, mcgrath, booker and countless others.
They should run a very pro union progressive that focuses on working class economic issues but is less focused on social issues.
Best hope is trying to get Justice to flip again, otherwise this is another Any McGrath grift.
A marine is fine. Now if the Dems could find a coal miner who pretty much is a blue dog democrat the left might keep that seat
Kinky….
I’d love nothing more than for him to win but wow is it a long shot… best of luck
He can look but I don’t think he can touch
Need a guy who is pro-WV and not some schmuck the liberal elites like. But probably get some moron who is anti-coal in WV just like they thought it was great for Beto to be anti-gun in Tx
Virginia needs a Fetterman-like candidate.
I mean, he sounds like the right kind of person to pull it off in WV. Marine, pro-fossil fuel, shaved head with a beard, WV native, working class.
I already donated. Republicans have candidates come out of no where all the time and win big elections, now it’s our turn to start throwing our support behind smart people, not just people who have been around for a while.
Good luck.
Originally from WV and it’s a long shot but I donated to him. However, my conservative mother told me this weekend “I don’t know how anybody could vote for Justice (current governor and presumptive GOP nominee for senate). He’s a slimeball” – really caught me off guard to hear her say that so donate if you can because if it’s Justice vs this guy for Senate we may be surprised. It’s also coming out about how much debt Justice is in and he promised the state public employee insurance wouldn’t increase but they are preparing to raise rates alarmingly high. Because of the huge tax cuts Justice passed, the state is struggling to find money to cover the costs increase and discontent seems to be boiling.
Lindsay Graham’s been looking for someone to fill his seat for years.
About time! Because Manchin didn’t do squat when it came to West Virginians and we all saw how Stephanie Ruhle reminded the Governor Of West Virginia Jim Justice back from April 2021 that the state was dead last on the issues!
Ok… try. But please look at some other 2024 races to get involved in cause if we put all our eggs in this basket and it does go Republican (which looks VERY likely), GOP is running the senate if we don’t make gains elsewhere.
They will need a pro union, pro labor candidate with a history of getting things done to help average Americans with a working class background, like Joe Manchin
*pray
I was really hoping Richard Ojeda would run for this seat.
