  1. >Nearly five times more people will likely die due to extreme heat in the coming decades, an international team of experts warned on Wednesday (Nov 15), adding that without action on climate change the “health of humanity is at grave risk”.

    >Lethal heat was just one of the many ways the world’s still-increasing use of fossil fuels threatens human health, according to The Lancet Countdown, a major annual assessment carried out by leading researchers and institutions.

    >More common droughts will put millions at risk of starving, mosquitoes spreading farther than ever before will take infectious diseases with them, and health systems will struggle to cope with the burden, the researchers warned.

  2. Such complete bullshit. Cold kills more people every year

  3. Yeah….. Things be crazy…

So – **Who is up for some nice BBQ?**

  4. Context is everything when articles start throwing around multipliers in their headlines rather than actual numbers, and I don’t really even follow the NBA. How many people have the Miami Heat killed so far?

  5. Didn’t we have some wetbulb Temps in the US this year? Seems like it’ll be here sooner than 2050 tbh

  6. Yep, and here in Australia we will be the earths bbq

  7. Mankind needs a good culling of the herd … finishing what COVID started.

  8. *Climate change denier stands up and smiles while yelling*

WHO DOESN’T LIKE IT A LITTLE WARMER?! AM I RIGHT?

  9. And yet meat consumption is increasing worldwide. What did you have to eat today? People are digging their own graves and are surprised and think they are clever.

  10. >mosquitoes spreading farther than ever before will take infectious diseases with them

A shame the heat won’t kill them too.

  11. This is such a useless statement. How can I (or anyone else for that matter) use this to convince people of how dire the situation is?

Five times more than what? The people who died of heat in 2023? in the 21st century? since the big bang?

What do you say in response to someone challenging you when telling them that “international experts say five times more people will die by 2050”?

  12. People who live in a naturally hot climate will survive and rule the world.

  13. So.. seven thousand people a year in the US rather than 1300 a year? I mean it’s a beautiful headline but hardly the real issue of climate change..

  14. As someone whose body literally cannot process heat correctly, this is the death clock.
