Lord Mayor of Cork hopes fully-electric €69k ‘Knight Rider’ will spark sustainability chats

  1. “It’s a real boon to the people of Cork that I am swanning around in an expensive car.”

    – Lord Mayor of Cork, probably.

  2. Before people go getting the pitchforks – Ford provide the car FOC for a year. They’ve been doing this for decades.

However the same office of Lord Mayor last year said an Electric Car wasn’t suitable for the role. Which is kinda funny, because only when Ford who give them free cars bring out an EV does it suddenly become a good option to drive one.

  3. I hate this type of journalism. They are looking for the outrage by putting the price in the headline despite the fact that the vehicle is provided for free for the year (& replaced with a new car the following year).

  4. It has sparked sustainability chats:

new cars, electric or otherwise are not the most sustainable way of doing things

why does he need a car to move around and about a compact city when an electric bike would suffice?

  5. Wtf does he need a driver for. Absolute nonsense and if he really motivated by sustainability, he’d use ride sharing or public transport, not requiring two vehicles and a driver. Yea very sustainable for a one person to have two cars.
