I want to buy this vehicle but the Fahrzeug identification number is only 8 letter & numbers long. Is this some kind of old German VIN thing? Does anyone know where can I lookup the information for this?

  1. Just a note: the concept of being able to look up a car’s history online using the VIN does not exist in Germany and you probably won’t find any informations about the specific car.

    Generally if the car was build before (I think 1971) this number is handled by each manufacturer individually.

  2. You can only look up VIN information if you are part of the german federal police or in a specific department at the manufacturer.
