Are these glass towers in police stations nationwide or just a Greater Manchester thing? 🚨

  1. Not in Ohio. In Ohio these glass towers are a “used to be a family video” thing.

  2. I feel like there was a phase of glass wall/glass towers in the 90s in general

  3. None of the stations I’ve ever been in have one (mostly around East Anglia)

  4. There’s at least one police station here in Dundee that has something similar to that, although I wouldn’t really call it a tower as such.

It’s more of a curved wall of glass. It’s the same design as the one in the image but I think it’s just under half the size of it.

  5. Only the Chief Constable gets a window in his office.

  6. Listen, if a member of the criminal element steal your helicopter your gonna need to see it leave regardless of where you are on the stairs, I thought everyone knew that.

  7. Ah yes, the station from my hometown. Had to double take as it’s not often you see Heywood on Reddit.

  8. Off the top of my head, there’s Harpurhey, Ashton under Lyne , Heywood, Atherton , all basically identical. There’s almost certainly more.

I for one liked the 1970’s Roger Booth Police Stations, particularly Bury, Chorley and Blackpool.

    Christ, I’m boring.

  9. That’s where they put the flights of stairs for prisoners to fall down.

  10. It’s a panopticon. Better not think about committing any crime.

  11. I’ve never seen one before in Essex, Beds, Herts or London
