  1. And the bank can see when the ATM was faulty then see who made withdrawals and ask for the money or debit their accounts. People are dumb.

  2. Small print: 16,734,509.4% interest applies to the withdrawal.

  3. Happened in Ireland recently. Lots of loans to be repaid

The bank did however set them interest free

  4. Something for nothing mob. They just don’t learn.” Taking money from a bank is not stealing innit?”

  5. Years ago this happened near me. Seems like the cash machine had incorrectly been refilled with just £20 notes. Select £10, get £20.

Machine was literally emptied within hours. Nobody in the neighbourhood repaid a penny.

  6. This happened in Mayfair, London a few years ago.

I was really impressed that the ‘rick kids’ thought to tell the local homeless people too

  7. Ignoring that if this happens you have to pay it back or you can be arrested for theft.

  8. What they don’t realise is, Natwest can trace every single person who used it, take it out of their account and the people won’t really have a leg to stand on. That said, Natwest may elect to treat it as their own error and as a PR move, do nothing.

  9. Easily fixed. The banks will just work out what accounts drew what and then double it

  10. I mean at this point it’s an interest free loan from the cash machine. You can only withdraw so much in one go, right? Depending on when your pay day falls and how fast they are to act.

  11. It’s actually a crime to take it knowing the machine is faulty. It’s called ‘Theft by Finding’ any item found in the street has to be taken to a Police Station and registered as Lost…You can’t ‘Find’ something that isn’t yours and knowingly retain it. Especially when using a cash point in this manner is so easily provable…
