  3. No, no it’s not. China has destroyed its environment twice over and is now raping the oceans for fish. The reality of it is…only 3% of China’s fresh water is drinkable. The rest is permanently polluted for the next several hundred years. What happens when 1.2 billion people run out of water?

  4. Well I can agree and not agree at the same time. Yeah it’s big enough for both, but not at the expense of the sovereignty of other nations. I’d take this statement much more feasible if there was less pearl clutching with Tibet, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

  5. That would be true if you could cut everything in half and what one side does with its half has zero effect on the other side.

    But both halves are breathing the same air here but polluting it at different rates, and both halves are after the same rare resources where there really isn’t enough to support the future needs of one of the two halves, let alone both. If one half gets into a stupid war, it hurts the economy of the other half.

    So I don’t think the bit in the title is at all realistic. It’s simply “don’t worry too much about us” posturing and frankly, meaningless given the realities of the world.

  12. Xi will grab opportunity when it sees it. They are playing the long game and dreaming of taking US as the global leader. I read that they compare US to the roman empire that is about to be crumbled and replaced by another empire.
