  1. And the Dutch opposition is already grilling the government over it.

    >Terrible images (from the war – ed.) call for a ceasefire, mass aid and the release of the hostages. And this requires the government to respond to all violations, including those on the Israeli side – wrote Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, an MP from the outgoing Democrats 66 ruling coalition, on the website X, adding that his party and the opposition Socialist Party (SP) requested a parliamentary debate on the matter notes.

^(I have no idea why I found it in Euractiv PL, but not the English site.)

  2. Why is this even a European issue in the first place? This isn’t our business.

  3. The state of Israel is currently run by the hard right wing – not unlike the current government of Orban .

And is very comfortable with reducing Gaza to rubble. Just making a profit of the use of the military.

Nothing to do with Iran – or Hezbollah.

In fact, the state of Israel’s current Likud government is dependent on drama from Iran , AQ, IRGC, Hezbollah / Syria [ and Hezbollah / Lebanon ] in order to gain political power and influence.

  4. And yet we’re still supporting Netanyahu.

What a joke. I sure hope people recognise this and vote accordingly next week.

  5. Israel really have free reign to do whatever they want.

  6. Given that there are no figures for civilian casualties and that historically the civilian casualty rates even taking the worst possible assessments seem be be better than the casualty rates of post WW2 NATO/Western engagements including those which were fought in more permissive conditions it seems to be a very odd assessment.

Would be interesting to see what actual information they are basing their assessments on since apparently the Dutch have better intelligence sources on the ground than the US if they managed to get civilian casualty figures.

  7. World War III looks more and more likely… maybe Iceland is the best place to hide…or not.

  8. it is not Israel that is using its war crimes in Gaza as a deterrent.

everyone knows that Israel is genocidal, there is no need for a demonstration.

the deterrence is coming from Europe and the US. the message is: if you think we would rein in Israel, think again.

  9. I’ve heard a couple of analysts saying that the only thing people in the Middle East understand is violence…
Reuters reporting now that Iran declined to join and Hezbollah are doing the least they could while pretending to care, ditto for Yemen. Everyone else is sabre rattling at most.
As someone who was in favor of trading for the hostages instead of a wide-scale assault (for starters at least), I wonder if I was mistaken.

  10. People don’t really understand FAFO.

They always forget what happend the last time somebody kidnapped a large amount of Israëlis. Then suprised pickachu face when all hell breaks loose if 250ish are kidnapped.

  11. God, this subredit is a depressing place. People are being genocided, and y’all are justifying it

  12. There is nothing complex about this, one did a terror attack on civilians and the other one chose to kill all in Gaza.

What I still can’t understand is there are Israelis held hostage yet the IDF bomb the living shit out of Gaza? Ehm kind of suspicious ain’t it? Maybe their plan was to just continue this genocide?

For those who want to argue about self defence or the 7th of October please don’t bother.

  13. sooo just to be clear, I get this sub hates muslims, but IF israel does let’s say hypothetically purge the gaza strip of all life, this sub wouldn’t defend that would they?

  14. Really buried the lead there. The only thing new/controversial in this is that they are claiming Israel is purposely targeting civilians/civilian infrastructure….unless it’s being misquoted, which is possible based on the way the quote is edited.

  15. >The defense attaché said that the Israeli army is using lethal force in an attempt to limit its own losses and “showcase credible military force to show Iran and its proxies [such as Hezbollah] that they will stop at nothing,” NRC reported.

    >using lethal force in an attempt to limit its own losses

    >limit its own losses

Yeah, I think it’s mostly this. If Hamas intends to hide in civilian structures, simply get rid of it all. Rebuild it later.

  16. This genocide has unmasked the true face of Europe for the rest of the world. It’s a watershed moment for everyone in the Global south.

Europe have lost any shred of credibility to the rest of the world and they can’t lecture any other brutal regime about human rights, UN resolutions, rules of war or protecting civilian lives.

  17. The Dutch, the world’s greatest Iran experts…NOT!

Remember we actually made the Iranian bomb possible by hiring an Iranian expat and allowing him to work in a sensitive environment around nuclear technology.

And do not get me started on our Dutch civil service – especially the diplomats – please! Numbnuts every single last one of them…
