Article states: “Masonic lodges are normally male-only societies, associated with arcane symbols and rituals. They have also sometimes been linked to conspiracy theories alleging undue influence on world affairs.”

  1. Come up north, there’s been a silent ban on Catholics becoming freemasons for a while

  2. This screams of “you won’t let us in your club?, I never wanted to be a member anyway”

  3. Male only society and Arcane symbols and rituals, so the Catholic church?

  4. Something something…. housing crisis… we could do with some free masons…

  5. THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING.

How am I supposed to pick only *one* of these amazing clubs.

  6. Glad we’re sorting out the key issues of our time

  7. Wasn’t some Vatican banker killed by the Freemasons a few years back? I have a very hazy memory of something like that?

Or maybe it was some movie I watched?

  8. Sure there is a huge difference between being a priest and being a nazi. Nazis dress in black and tell people what to do while priests…

  9. I think I understand a lot of things in the world but I do not understand the Freemasons. What are they? Who are they? Are they sinister? Do they put the Freemasons above family and society like the Mafia? Or is it just a silly boys club? What benefits are there to being one? Are they as risible as the Orange Order?

I have a very hard time characterising what they are.

  10. The Roman Catholic church banning men from a clandestine organisation, how ironic.

  11. Just saw a priest drop to their knees in Tesco when they read this news

  12. The British Freemason regime yes is only man and you must believe in god if you want to be in.
Fortunately I found that the liberal freemasonry is spreading in Ireland and I found a lodge in Dublin called Lodge Orion N9 Dublin in Facebook/Instagram they upload interesting topics about freemasonry and about liberal no dogmatic freemasonry….

  13. Does this mean if I told the local PP I’ve joined the freemasons I’d be excommunicated?

  14. Lefty handshake anyone? I know a few Masons, sound lads, always seem to be doing good things for their community, unlike the Catholic Church. When I lived in Northern Europe I became good friends with a Scottish Mason who was part of Lodge #1, he had this weird penny that he offered to me saying that if I ever found myself in trouble with any Orangemen (because I’m from a Catholic background) or the likes, to show them the penny and it’d be like a get out of jail free card. I thanked him but declined the weird penny.

  15. Nobody alleges that the church has influenced world affairs. It is stated as a matter of fact.

  16. I’m an American, but I’m pretty sure a good quarter of Catholics here are masons. My father was a Catholic mason, and I’m pretty sure there’s at least three in the lodge I’m joining. The ban doesn’t really stop them tbh
