Frankly I couldn’t give a stuff if some shareholders or fat cat bosses lose out. I’m more interested in what is being done or going to be done to shield people already struggling from such a massive price hike.
France has shutdown 4 nuclear power stations consecutively this month, due to leaky pipes that required replacement or inspection at the least.
I’ve been reading European wholesale gas is 10x US prices going into Jan 22.
The problem really is our over reliance on gas for both heating and electricity.
It would be nice if we could reduce usage rather than just paying for more wholesale. Mass insulating programs and home upgrades for the most vulnerable would help us be more resilient for decades rather than just dodging the latest energy crisis which affects all of Europe
