    It doesn’t matter what manager it is or what circumstance.

    Having a position of authority that openly and actively punishes criticism of it is abhorrent.

  5. It’s funny because they spent two weeks doing PR for that goal, before releasing the audio (which raises another set of questions about their decision making) and then patting their self on the back that they made the right decision before deciding to fine him.

    Can understand his frustration, but if you go off like he did and receive no punishment, then its kinda fucked up for all the other players/managers who called out the FA/referees and got reprimanded for it. Will also encourage other managers to go mask off in the future.

    Well, I think the officials themselves deserved to be insulted and they themselves bought the game into disrepute. And I don’t think that Howard Webb’s propaganda exercise with Michael Owen this week has made the PGMOL look any better, since they refused to share the audio of the decisions that Webb himself admitted they got wrong, only the ones that Webb claims were correct.

  11. All team owners need to come together on this, the refs and var in the Prem are not good enough for the level of competition. If we as fans have to come together first to force change so be it, but I think there needs to be some large changes. When I’m bad at my job I get fired. When refs are bad, they get patted on the back and a “you’ll get it next time”

  16. This is censorship. The refs are clearly shit and I don’t care how nicely they talk on the audio releases. they are still awful at their jobs and need to be held accountable

    He was trying to deflect from the fact that his team had 1 shot on target all game by blaming someone else, he is like the Tories blaming immigrants, ECHR and EU for all their own failings

  21. Officiating has been shocking across the board this season. Fining a manager for bringing it up instead of providing any sort of update on their plans to improve the standard of officiating just comes off as extremely tone deaf.

  25. Anyone who thinks Arteta shouldn’t be fined for his behaviour, is part of the problem. The hate towards refs is the reason we have bad refs.

  26. As fans of the league we need to come together on this issue. It’s not arsenal vs everyone, and it won’t be the next team that gets fucked vs everyone. It’s all of us vs the FA, and they will always tell you it’s your fault or you were wrong.
