It says something, as Ukrainians were treated much better than refugees (non-Ukrainian) and immigrants that came into the country. Dude is like ‘f**k’ this life, while the Indian student grinds his way through ubereats.
Spent some time in Europe and the one thing that stood out is the quality of life and cost verses in Canada. The immigrants are not wrong. I seriously considered moving to the Netherlands at the time but uprooting myself is one thing, wouldn’t have been fair to my kids and wife. I question that these days.

just an FYI, the Financial Post likes to, from time to time, post articles blaming immigrants for the housing difficulties, when in fact the underlying issues are and always has been housing as an investment.
Because immigrants like me, who came here to work and make a living and also pay taxes are… scary or something, i dunno.

I’m Ukrainian and we had some of my parents Ukrainian friends move to the U.S (they weren’t refugees though they moved before the war)… well they’re already back in Germany cus it’s so damn expensive here
Canada is a class act when it come to refugees. They’ve been taking displaced people from the Middle East for years now. I stayed in a hotel in downtown London, ON and met some kind people from Syria at their peak of conflict.
As for their CoL, it’s consistently slightly worse than the US.

Fair. Our housing prices are unsustainable, and we aren’t doing anything about it. I make ok money, and have a rather nice apartment that’s WAY cheaper than a dumpy apartment around here. I’m dreading the day my rent doubles all of a sudden. I don’t know how anyone on minimum wage is able to put a roof over their heads at all, atm.
We’ve commodified housing into a lucrative investment for the rich, and because of that, it’s quickly becoming a luxury to the lower wage earners. Housing should be a basic right, not a way for people to leech money out of folks who can’t afford it.
The cost of living in this country is out of control!!!!
Welcome to the west, had the same issues with our Iraqi interpreters. All of them thought we were lying about how expensive things are and the educational requirements to work. Out of six only one hasn’t moved back to Iraq.
