In California and Florida, climate disasters are putting pressure on home insurance

  1. I don’t know when I will stop being amazed that insurance companies aren’t out leading the effort on the climate. With each major disaster it becomes increasingly more difficult to maintain any profit margin by paying out claims, so they will continue to have to reduce their market footprint, or raise the prices to a level which are unaffordable. There will be a tipping point at which insurance companies won’t be able to exist because it won’t be cost effective for them or the insurers.

  2. Capitalists are having the face the fact that their failure to accept climate change is real won’t stop them from having to pay increased insurance rates.

  3. FL has always had climate disasters. Both states suffer from people moving into areas previously left to Nature.
