VDB is from the Green party and criticized the Government’s decision to block the Schengen entry of Romania btw, it’s just that the president in Austria is a purely representative office with pracitcally no political power analogous to the Queen in the UK.

It’s kinda sad to see all the hate here. Van der Bellen is far from perfect, but he’s not at fault for the whole Schengen ordeal. He’s actually against it, but as president, there isn’t much he can do (the role is mostly representative).
Plus, VdB loves dogs. (He actually met mine once when he was a little pupper. Weird interaction, but nonetheless.)
To all the salty Bulgarian and Romanian citizens, van der Bellen is not at fault for the Schengen Veto.
