Omar Moumeche was 16 years old when he hit Dennis Clarke at Derby bus station on 6 May 2021.
The punch caused Mr Clarke to fall to the ground, and he died in hospital nine days later.
The 18-year-old was found guilty of manslaughter following a trial at Derby Crown Court and sentenced on Friday.
The court heard Mr Clarke had been surrounded by a group of three teenagers after he challenged them about their behaviour on an escalator at the Eagle Market.
He was then followed to the bus station, where he was attacked by Moumeche.
But Judge Shaun Smith said he was satisfied that for much of the confrontation, Moumeche was a “disinterested onlooker”.
He also accepted psychological reports, which said the teenager had an emotional age of about 13 at the time.”

I hope they appeal this sentence. This “disinterested onlooker” followed the old boy from the market to the bus station didn’t he? It wasn’t a sudden loss of temper, not that that would have been ok either.

How did the judge conclude he was not a danger to the public. He killed an elderly man in a situation he was not even involved in.
Am I right in thinking he will be behind the door for as little as a year, or less?
This ought to be a 10 year sentence at least in my opinion. The reason people do stuff like this is because sentencing means they almost get away with it. Where is the deterrent?
Little shit, punching an elderly man. Hopefully he meets many younger more robust fellow’s where he’s going, 2 years is ridiculous.
Follows a senior citizen and then and strikes him in the head, that’s some serious intent for someone who didn’t intend murder.

Would rather the skidmark get life. He’s a solid case for bringing back capital punishment.

Near 100% chance we’ll be reading about this thug’s crimes again in future sadly.
