Hi there, I am an Indian working in Germany. My fiancé is German. I looked into the procedure for court marriages in Germany and I seem to need a “ehefähigkeitszeugnis”. One website says that I need to get an exemption from this from a German body itself : https://india.diplo.de/in-en/service/-/1908628.
I’m currently in India for a vacation. Wanted to know if I can get a similar exemption or form from India itself.

Send an email to your Standesamt, they usually have a list of equivalent documents for various countries. Or be smart, save the effort and get married in Denmark – it’s way less hassle
